GOVERNOR SHIELD NOMINATIONS

Well done to all our Governor Shield Nominations!

YEAR 6 TALENT SHOW We were entertained by our year 6’s at their end of year talent show. There was a wide range of acts including magicians, dancers, singers and comedy. Such fun year 6, such fun!

FUN DAY All the children had a great day just having fun @ Arundel Court. We had an ice cream van where every child had an ice cream, a bouncy caste and slide as well as a load of fun activities that the staff & children set up. It was touch and go with the weather but at least the rain stayed away! Thanks to all the staff that worked so hard especially Mrs Phillimore who organised the ice cream and bouncy stuff & Mrs Keable for her impeccable time keeping! Also to Mr Avis (Alfie) for getting hold of the Portsmouth League 2 Champions trophy.

SPORTS DAY We had three sports days for the Nursery, lower school and the upper school children. The weather was very kind to us. Thank you to all our parents, carers and friends for supporting your children Thank you to Mr Parrott, Mr Redman and volunteers for working hard to make it really fun and competitive. We like healthy competitiveness.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Mrs Tull (TA) on the birth of her lovely new baby daughter called Cassie Mae. Fantastic news.

GOODBYE!

We say a sad farewell to a few members of staff. Miss Lawrence (yr. 6 teacher) who has achieved a promotion and will be joining another school in the city. Mr Potter (yr. 5 teacher) is leaving us to move up north and take up a teaching position there. Mrs McAvery (was a TA and recently a student teacher) who has been offered a teaching job at another school in the city. Mr Davies (yr 5 TA) is off on an adventure to spend 6 months traveling all over the world. Have a great time! And finally Mrs O’Connor (Yr 2 TA) who is off to become a property landlord. All the best! Thankyou for all your hard work and commitment to this school. We wish you all the best in the next steps of your careers!

Miss Lawrence Mrs McAvery Mr Potter Mrs O’Connor Mr Davies

WHO IS GETTING MARRIED?

Wow! We have three weddings this summer holiday. We would like to wish Miss Meek (teacher in Yr R) who will be known as Mrs Thomas, also Miss Allan (teacher in year 4) who will be called Mrs Richardson and ALSO Ms Stocks is getting married however she will still be called Ms Stocks at school.

WHO GOT MARRIED?

A great big congratulations to Mr and Mrs Denford (was Miss Coney) who also got married this term. So much love in this school at the moment.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Please remember that all children in Year 1 through to Year 6 are due back in

school on WEDNESDAY 6th SEPTEMBER 2017 to start the new academic year.

FAIRTHORNE MANOR

Some of our year 6 children spent the week camping at Fairthorne Manor Activity Centre. Here they took part in a variety of exciting activities which included abseiling, canoeing, swinging on a giant swing and climbing dizzy heights. It was a great week and thanks to all the staff who gave up so much of their own time to make it a special week for the children.

‘RETIREMENT’

It’s a sad goodbye to Mr Garvey, who after many years working as a site manager, is off to enjoy a well-earned retirement. He has told us that he will be doing a lot of travelling and riding on his new, very large, motorbike! Thanks for all your hard work Mr Garvey. Hasta La Vista!

GUESS THE TEACHER

At our Fun Day, we had guess the teacher. See who you can spot!

SMOKING Please DO NOT smoke directly outside the school gate near the front office. Many parents are complaining that they walk through smoke to get into the building at times. Thank you.

ACADEMY STATUS & NEW BUILD We have had a term now of being part of the University of Chichester Academy trust and things have been going well. We are also on track for the new build to take place on our school field. The new school will be built by a company called Elliott who specialise in building modular schools. This means that the building is built off site and then bits of it are brought in by cranes and put together like pieces of Lego. The end results are amazing. If all goes to plan, we should move into the new building in the autumn (October) of 2019. The old building will then be demolished and that area is then developed into playing fields, playgrounds and parking.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! We say welcome to Mrs McGuire, a Year 4 teacher, who will be joining us in September. Welcome!
