Senen: “The opening of the nursery” We are a group of young mothers from Senen, Jakarta where a lot of people live close to the rails in really poor sanitary conditions. Every day we come to the center with our children to learn English, how to use a computer, how to man- age a business and how to be professional to improve our future. Our program is called Tumbuh. It means “to grow, to rise” in Indonesian. We are really happy because our clients always say that our jams are delicious and we have been selling a lot in bazaars, companies and open houses these past few months. We also witnessed an important event last month with the opening of a nursery in the center. For us it is really difficult to focus on our training and on our busi- ness activity if we have to take care of our children at the same time so we de- cided to organize as a team and to create a nursery. There, our children can play and learn in a safe environment. And for us, it is easier to work on our life project plan. For the future, we want to have more clients for us to learn how to be more and more professional and in the next months, we hope we will find internships in companies to experience working in an office. Our dream is that one day, we will be able to support our families and we will offer our children the education we never had. Mars, 2011 Together, We Can ! A word from Aude, coordinating LP4Y in Indonesia

Since arriving in Indonesia in March 2013, I have been pleasantly surprised by the great

welcome given to LP4Y. Local NGOs, organizations and the French community of Jakarta

helped us develop the Life Project Centers in the city step by step.

Thanks to you, 3 centers now daily support Young Adults motivated to change their future.

You probably know the Youth through their jams and fruit juices made for you with love.

These activities are a way for them to acquire professional skills, as our first mission is always

the social and professional integration of excluded youth.

In these coming months, the first young mothers of Senen will start regular work in local

companies. So the next step is to involve more and more companies to build bridges for

the Youth to move from exclusion and poverty to a decent life.

Semper: “Our first sales experience”

Semper is a new program that started in December 2013. In the past few months, the team of 11 Young Adults from north Jakarta has been working on renovating the center. With the help of the coach, the Youth decided to launch a Healthy Corner activity.

Their sales experience started on the 20th of May 2014 and we asked the Youth to tell us more about this moment.

“We had our 1st sales experience with Axa, an international company based in the city center of Jakarta. We bought the fruit in the market close to our center and went to the headquarters. We were really impressed by the height of the building!

We liked this experience a lot because we sold 52 fruit juices in one day and the people were really nice. This is a good opportunity for us to improve our English and to be more professional. At the end of the day, we were very tired because we were standing all day long and we were really happy to go back home.

Now we go to Axa every month and to the Union des Français de l’Etranger once a week. With the Healthy Corner program, we are learning how to manage a business and to make fresh juices and cakes.

Bantar Gebang: “The opening of the new center”

“We had our 1st training in the new center on Tuesday 17th of June 2014. We are living in the dumpsite of Bantar Gebang, the biggest of the coun-try, in small houses directly built on the garbage dump.

We like the new house because it is big and beautiful with a lot of colors like green, blue and yellow. In the new center, we feel more comfortable and Miss Elise and Mister JB are friendly because they feel better now we are finally settled. We also like that we made the tables and the whiteboard together as a team. The only bad thing is that the house is still under construction and it’s really noisy. It gives us headaches.

In this center we want to learn how to be more responsible and more professional to find a job in a company. We hope we will have more youth that will come in the next months for us to work on the business activity of our program.”

“In LP4Y, I can dream again!“

My name is Zaenudin, I’m 17 years old and I joined LP4Y last 2nd of December 2013. Before I was playing football with my friends in the street. I went to school until I was 15 but I had to stop because it was too expensive for my parents.

Now that I’m a part of the LP4Y team, I can dream again! I hope that one day, I will be able to work in a company as an accountant because I like numbers and the excel software.

During the sales, we meet a lot of foreigners and it helps us being more professional.

I have improved a lot in English lately and I’m sure it will help me to find a job with a good salary. It’s really important for me to have a stable work and it will allow me to start my own family and to buy a house.

Here I can smile and be a positive example for my younger brothers. I feel so lucky to be here in LP4Y!
