Kia ora koutou e te whānau
A warm welcome to our new students and their families. Samuel joined our High School classes and Wiremu has joined us at Base School.
We recently had our whānau morning tea, where Kate Davis our Public Health Nurse joined us. This is a great opportunity to network and share ideas. If you wanted to be there but wondered what it would be like, or you were a bit shy to come on your own, this note from one of our parents may encourage you to
come next time. Dear Di & the Fairhaven Team, A very big thank you for the meet and greet morning tea last month. It was lovely to meet Kate the Public Health Nurse & to find out what she does & how she can help. I got so much out of coming along and was encouraged to ask questions no matter how small or silly I thought they might be. I’m super excited about the Fun With Food Programme my daughter will be a part of next term - getting her to eat a proper diet is a constant battle! I look forward to the next morning tea. Sara Ellis Kaitlyn’s Mum I hope you enjoy the photos over the page, of our young adults who attend Te Rangimarie, our Transition Centre. They are all a great bunch of passionate learners supported by equally passionate staff. School was never this interesting when I was there!! Please do remember, that you are most welcome to phone or come in to meet with me at any time. Working together means we can better support our young people to learn and achieve. Principal Awards

Community access is a priority for the young people at our tertiary unit as they prepare for life after school. Work and recreational opportunities provide meaningful learning environments for our young people to further develop their skills.
This term some of our young men have been accessing the world of work. We have been lucky to find regular work placements for some students at Mitre 10, Hastings, and the E-Recycling Centre, while others have been earning cash, delivering information for our local Bayley’s Estate agents.
Back at the ranch students have been building nest boxes for the Cape Sanctuary, which has been a joint venture with peers at Kowhai School. Jaden has been learning to mix music and entertain our Kowhai friends as a DJ, as well as being interviewed for Cape Kidnappers Radio regarding his leaving school at the end of the year.
On the recreational front, some of our young adults have enjoyed joining the Shake, Rattle and Roll programme in Napier once a week. This has provided opportunity to have fun with friends and peers from a range of local schools and centres.
