Channel 9 Visit Channel 9 came out to our school to do a story on the wonderful things that are happening at Tootgarook PS. They interviewed the wonderful mums that run Breakfast Club, along with interviewing children about their thoughts why the Breakfast Club is so successful.

Footage was taken of the children participating in Running Club and doing woodwork in the Art room. Interviews were held with Bernie and Eric from St. Vincent de Pauls, and their involvement and assistance within the Tootgarook Community. We had representatives from the George Hicks Foundation who donated money for the school to purchase our school bus from Boneo PS. Overall they left our school with over 1 hours of footage that they will turn into a few minutes which will appear on Channel

9 News. Stay tuned and we will let you know when we will be featuring. Paul King How lucky we were to have a relatively clear week for our students who attended last weeks Snow camp to Mount Buller. I had the pleasure of a brief visit last Wednesday and Thursday, and the thing that struck me most over the course of my visit was how relaxed and happy all of our the students were. It was great to see everyone having a go at all of the activities presented by qualified ski instructors as well as the sense of pride they exhibited in conquering some of their challenges. Other than a few minor scrapes for a couple of students, the whole week unfolded beautifully with our students enjoying a fantastic camping experience. The photos below capture some of the action over the course of the week. On behalf of the school community, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the dedicated team of teachers & adults who provided wonderful around the clock support and care for our students from both Tootgarook and Sorrento.

  • Tootgarook/Sorrento Mt Buller Ski Camp 2015 Another successful camp has just been completed at Mt Buller. This year was a little different to previous years

where we has a total of 23 non skiers who attended the camp. There was a lot of excitement as snow fell on our arrival on Sunday and continued on throughout the week. By the end of Monday we had all of the children, skiing up and down Bourke Street,

and getting on and off the chair lift. As the children improved throughout the week they continued to

explore the mountain, and ski on new ski runs. Wednesday night was another highlight with the children skiing under lights at a rapid pace. They didnt recognise Mr. Whitworth who was hidden behind a large black beard. The annual snow ball fight was held on

    Thursday afternoon

where Mr. King didnt participate due to skiing

    injuries. Needless to say even

though the other teachers and parents tried, without Mr. King leading the way, they couldnt with hold the might of the students and lost the first snow ball championship in 6 years. Look out children Mr. King will be back to lead the charge in 2016. The sun shone on Thursday and Friday, where the children skied from the Summit where the visibility was excellent, and could see for kilometres. Congratulations to Lily Buck and Mia Goldberg who won the trophies for being outstanding students over the whole week of the camp. Paul King

safe out on the snow. It was all very important to know what to

walking back with our boots and skis but we managed The very next morning, we had ski school. The instructors names where, Mona, Joshua, and 3

others. We were all on some of the hardest

    slopes by Tuesday!!

On Wednesday night we went out skiing

Directed Play Activities in the Prep class.

Each week in the Prep class room, we participate in a selection of Directed Play activities which are designed to extend the childrens language development with a focus on our Literacy and Numeracy topics. At the end of the session we write about our learning. This week we have been learning about the letter Vv. We made volcanos, vowel puppets, vegetables with playdough, vegetable soup, a village with the blocks and vegetable collages. Our favourite activity of all was the Vet Clinic. What fun we have had playing with the medical kits that we purchased with our funds from the market. We bandaged our pets, used the stethoscopes, worked as receptionists, talked about x-rays and cared for our sick pets. This is a great introduction to our Living Safely with Pets incursion next week.
