GC Realty put an ad in the November 5th Bartlett Examiner to draw atten-tion to the new Arts Cen-ter. Here Bob Perri is shown with President Rita Lopienski signing our lease. Bob spent months searching for a location and then negotiating our lease. Then he and his wife Marilyn helped get the space ready. Thanks, Bob, for your hard work on our behalf.

Letter from the President

November Greetings,

T his is the month we often talk about our blessings. We are certainly thankful that we have a new Center for the Arts in the Town Center, which continues to evolve, and we invite you to come see it! It still needs some work and we are in need of funds to make other improvements.

Now, more than ever, we need your support and generosity. If you haven’t done so yet, please invest by participating in our 12x12x12 fundraising campaign. Can you give $12 by the 12th month (December) for our 12th anniversary, or a $12x12 donation of $144, which will cover your 2015 dues at the highest level of Sus-taining Membership? Our goal is to exceed $2,000 in donations by the December 11th Holiday Party and 12th Anniversary. Send a check to Arts in Bartlett or go to our website www.artsinbartlett.org to the New Arts Center page and find the Donate button to make your selection. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we can surpass the goal by the December anniversary? I am sure we can do it! Enhancing the cultural arts in Bartlett is so important to enrich the lives of its residents. It’s still our membership that sustains Arts in Bartlett, a volun-teer-run arts council, so please continue to support us with your membership and invite new individuals, or-ganizations and businesses to join. It is this grassroots advocacy that grows the arts!

One of the reasons we have thrived when many arts councils struggle financially to pay salaries and bene-fits is that we are an all-volunteer organization. That can also mean a undue burden on a few, so we are hop-ing to expand our volunteers. In the new Arts Center, we hope to increase the days and times we man the gallery, especially when parents are bringing their children in for lessons. That means staffing is needed every weekday but Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 5. It is a good opportunity to talk to visi-tors about our artists and educate them on what Arts in Bartlett is all about. Training is available. Teens who need service hours are welcome. Just contact us at [email protected] or call Cecilia at 630-372-4152.

We really need our membership’s input and brainstorming on fundraising, sponsorships, membership drives, programming and more. All Arts in Bartlett members are invited to come to the next Board meeting on November 24 at 6:30pm in the Log Cabin. We hope that you feel invested in bringing more arts to Bart-lett, volunteer to join a committee, attend our events, and spread the news about Arts in Bartlett, a vibrant arts council. See you at the December 11th party!

Thanks!

Just 5 weeks left to bid on an Art Box All 15 entries in the Heritage Days Decorate a Box Contest are on view in Arts in Bartlett’s new Center. Bidding in this silent auction will end at our Holiday Party on December 11. Come see the clever mailbox with letters inside, the tooth fairy box, art and writing boxes, a miniature room and much more! The one with the most bids so far is a writing box inspired by Alice in Wonderland’s riddle “Why is a raven like a writing box,” created by Stephanie FitzSi-mons. The bidding is ongoing in the all-purpose room.

Arts in Bartlett continues 12x12x12 Campaign

T hank you to those who have already contrib-uted to the 12x12x12 campaign. Those names are listed on the last page of this newsletter. We are nearly 3/4 of the way to the $2,000 goal. All this money and more is needed to finish needed renova-tions to our new Arts Center and to buy items from our Wish List: a convection microwave, track lighting for the gallery, new carpeting for the hallway, more lighting for the performance space, 2 ADA toilets ac-cording to the 2010 state code ($250 each) kitchen cabinets, garbage disposal and much more. This campaign gives all families in Bartlett the chance to participate at whatever level they are comfortable with. Our goal is to reach $2,000 in donations with a one-time donation of at least $12 by the 12th month (December) the end of our 12th year. For those who can give more, we suggest you give $12 a month for a one-time donation of $144, which offers as a bonus a Sustaining Membership until the end of 2015. Or you can choose a gift from our Wish List above. Just send a check to Arts in Bartlett at P.O. Box 8393, Bartlett, IL 60103 or go directly to our website artsinbartlett.org to the New Arts Center page to the Donate button and make your selection. We will recognize all of our donors at our Annual Holiday and anniversary party December 11.

T he paint was barely dry when events celebrating the opening of Arts in Bartlett’s new Cen-ter for the Arts began. The first was a “thank you” party for the Board of Directors and the small army of volunteers who gave up evenings and weekends to renovate the former salon. Then the Halloween Fun Fest in downtown Bartlett gave the community an opportunity to visit the center, with an estimated 500 entering the spooky “inner sanctum” for treats. Next are two important events for all members: December 9 — 5-7 p.m. the official ribbon cutting and Open House with the Chamber of

Commerce and special VIP guests. December 11 — 4-6 p.m. Tours of the Arts Center, followed by the Annual Holiday Party

across the street at the Fire Barn starting at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required for the dinner, which are free to members and $10 for nonmembers. Contact [email protected] or 630 372 4152 to reserve.

T he 6th Annual Halloween Fun Fest in downtown Bartlett October was the largest ever. A rts in Bartlett has become an associate of Amazon through their charitable site smile.amazon.com to help raise funds for the new Arts Center. A popular shopping portal for gifts and other items, Amazon has created this easy way to give to nonprofits when you order as usual – same products, same prices, same services. Just go through smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com to order and Amazon gives Arts in Bartlett 0.5 of the cost of your order. Here’s how it works: Click here to go to smile.amazon.com and select Arts in Bartlett as your charity. (Be sure not to select “Bartlett Arts Council” that is in Tennessee) Then every time you order on this website, it should indicate at the top of the page that you are contributing to Arts in Bartlett. The Artist Networking Group meeting November 18 will begin at 6:00pm at the Village of Bartlett 2nd floor gallery for an reception for new member, Lisa Callaghan Doerings-feld, who is exhibiting acrylic and pastel paintings of Ireland. If you are willing to lead a meeting, please let us know. We are a small and willing group, so don't let it keep you from sharing something you are excited about. “

The group will reserve 15 minutes at the beginning of the meeting at the Arts Center to share recent art work. All visual artists are welcome to this free event. Please email Linda at [email protected] with any questions.
