    NEWS AND PAST EVENTS2.9.2013Trading on the WSE: August 2013 - PRESSRELEASE: TRADING ON WSE MARKETS- The value of session trading in equities on the MainMarket was PLN 17.2 billion in August 2013, an increase of19.8% year on year.- The incremental value of total trading in equities on theMain Market was PLN 171.5 billion in January-August2013, an increase of 23.0% year on year.- The total volume of trading in index futures decreased by1.0% year on year to 552.0 thousand contracts in August2013.- The total volume of trading in currency futures more thandoubled to 286.3 thousand contracts in August 2013compared to 104.8 thousand contracts in August 2012.- The incremental volume of spot and forward transactionsin electricity reached 104.7 TWh year to date, an increaseby 69.8% year on year.- The monthly volume of trading in property rights was 1.6TWh in August 2013, a decrease of 52.1% year on year.- The aggregate volume of spot and forward transactions innatural gas was 48.4 GWh in August 2013 while theincremental volume was 580.5 GWh year to date.

    The economic crisis in Poland has ended and wemay expect GDP growth to accelerate to over2.0% y/y in Q4/2013 and further to 3.0% y/y inQ1/2014 The economic crisis in Poland has ended and we mayexpect GDP growth to accelerate to over 2.0% y/y inQ4/2013 and further to 3.0% y/y in Q1/2014 (from 0.8% inQ2/2013), PM Donald Tusk has announced. According tohim, in the whole year, economic growth may be higherthan 1.5% y/y, written in the budget law (vs. 1.9% in 2012).

    The government has proposed to transfer thebond assets allocated by open pension funds(OFEs) to the state agency - the Social SecurityBoard (ZUS). The state does not want to take over the equity part of theirportfolios.

    The Council assesses that the rates shouldremain unchanged at least by the end of the yearThe Council assesses that the rates should remainunchanged at least by the end of the year (upholding itsstance from a month earlier).

In annual terms, retail sales fell by 1.3% in theeuro-zone and by 0.3% in EU27. Market consensus for theeuro-zone was a drop of 0.4% y/y.

    Seasonally-adjusted GDP growth in Q2/2013amounted to 0.3% q/q in the euro-zone, while inthe entire EU - to 0.4%, according to the secondestimate.Market consensus was +0.3pts, in line with Eurostat's flashestimate. In annual terms, GDP fell by 0.5% in theeuro-zone amd was unchanged in the EU (vs. -1.0% and-0.2% in the flash estimate). Market consensus was a dropof 0.7%.

    The U.S. non-farm unemployment rate in Augustamounted to 7.3% vs. 7.4% a month earlier. Market consensus was 7.4%. Total nonfarm payrollemployment increased by 169,000 in August. Marketconsensus was 173-180 thousand.
