Our school will deliver opportunies for every student to become a successful learner and a caring, confident, creave individual. Dear North Haven Families 2021 I am very excited to share that I have been given the opportunity to continue in the role of Relieving Principal at North Haven Public School until September 2021 as Mrs Wild has extended her leave. It has been a privilege to have been in this role for 2020 and I have thoroughly enjoyed developing strong relationships with the students, staff and community of North Haven Public School. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with our skilled staff and highly dedicated and supportive parents and carers to achieve positive learning and wellbeing outcomes for all our students. World TeachersDay This Friday 30th October is World TeachersDay. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful teachers for their outstanding dedication and professionalism. I would also like to acknowledge the significant role they play in the lives of our children and students, our families and our community. We are very lucky to have such exceptional teachers at North Haven Public School! Kindergarten 2021 Drop in Day Transition practices, including introducing children and families to our school environment, experiences and routines remain an important priority for ensuring children have a strong and successful start to their education at North Haven Public School. It is with this in mind that we have created an opportunity for our Kindergarten 2021 students to visit our school site for a drop-in day, in accordance with current COVID guidelines. This transition program will allow these students to attend school for a half day at North Haven Public School. Unfortunately, non-essential adults (this includes parents and carers) are currently not permitted at school events and the Year 5 buddies will also be restricted from being involved. Students will be involved in social play, art and movement activities and outdoor games in our playground areas. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to become familiar with the classroom and school environment, meet their teachers and also the other children who will be starting school next year. Further information will be sent to our Kindergarten 2021 families this week with details such as start times (which will be staggered). Water Chugging We have recently noticed some students creating a vortex in their drink bottle and chuggingthe water. The practice has also included some students modifying the size of the hole in their water bottle so the water drains faster. As Im sure you are aware, there are some possible risks involved with this activity including choking and an electrolyte imbalance from consuming too much water. The safety and wellbeing of our students is a priority and we have asked students not to continue this activity at school. Thank you for your support in this matter. Kind regards, Kate Brace Relieving Principal

Band News Current Band Members

(Junior & Senior) It’s time to consider your plans for 2021! Notes will be sent home TOMORROW to all existing band members (Junior and Senior 2020) regarding continuation in the Band Program in 2021. I would urge all of you to continue your musical journey in 2021. This year has taught us many things and it has reminded us not to take the things we value for granted. Our return to band over the last two weeks has been a joy! It is obvious just how important making music together is for our collective and personal wellbeing. The enthusiasm and positive energy that the students have brought to rehearsals and tutorials has been heartwarming. I am very proud of the resilience and adaptability shown by our young musicians. It bodes well for 2021! As I have said before, our bands are authentic examples of the school’s commitment to inclusion, collaborative learning and excellence. Please return these notes by 27th November, as I need to know exactly who is on board for next year. I also need to know what instruments will be available for Junior Band 2021.

Junior Band 2021 Expression of Interest notes will be sent home tomorrow to all eligible students (anyone in Years 3-6 in 2021) for Junior Band in 2021. This year, we are planning to hold a Zoom Family Information Session for prospective Junior Band members, instead of the usual face-to-face meeting. Please return the note by Friday, 6th November so we can organise and release the details for the Zoom meeting. This is not a commitment note, simply an indication of interest. Information about the structure of the program, our fees, our tutors, the instruments and the benefits of playing in a band will be presented and discussed at the Zoom session. Please note that if you cannot attend the Zoom session your child will still be able to join the band. Liz Skerritt Band Co-ordinator
