President’s Message Hello and Happy Fall, I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and happy. Can you believe it is Fall already? The years surely do seem to fly by, just like my father told/warned me they would. So much has been going on at the Club. We have added to our barrier walls around the 100 yard range. Thank you for understanding of a few lane closures while that was in progress. Additional materials will be added in the future, and we will keep you posted of the progress. The feedback on the upper 7 yard pistol range has been very positive. This range was made possible by the support the membership has given with raffles and event participation, plus the dedication of the officers and committee leaders. The Club has been holding cookouts on the fourth Wednesday of every month. The plan was originally to have members and friends stop by and enjoy the company of like-minded folks. It started off averaging around 20-25 people showing up. At the last cookout, we had 66 by best count. We supply the hot dogs and hamburgers and most guests bring a covered dish. For example, at the past get- together we had hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken halves, pigs in the blanket, home-made stromboli, home-made desserts, and the list goes on. If you haven’t stopped in to experience this function, you’re missing out. From the Board room: If you have been to a meeting lately, you may have noticed our long-time Treasurer Kevin Kerr has retired from the position. The Club thanks Kevin and his family for the many years of commitment and dedication they have given the Club. Thank you, Kevin and Cheryl! Jasper Paige relinquished his trustee position to take the helm as Treasurer until the next election for that position. Trout Nursery Chairman Jordan Barber was voted in as Trustee to fulfill Jasper’s obligations until the next election for that position. The Board thanks all those involved in making this a smooth transition. A final note: I always say, “you get out of the Club what you put into it.” Never feel intimidated to suggest something or ask a question. We love to hear someone new. If you’re shy, or at least not outspoken, pull me aside and make your request privately. Get involved, join a committee, have fun! That’s what it’s all about! President’s Message Hello and Happy Fall,

I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and happy. Can you believe it is Fall already? The years

surely do seem to fly by, just like my father told/warned me they would.

So much has been going on at the Club. We have added to our barrier walls around the 100 yard

range. Thank you for understanding of a few lane closures while that was in progress. Additional

materials will be added in the future, and we will keep you posted of the progress.

The feedback on the upper 7 yard pistol range has been very positive. This range was made possible

by the support the membership has given with raffles and event participation, plus the dedication of the

officers and committee leaders.

The Club has been holding cookouts on the fourth Wednesday of every month. The plan was

originally to have members and friends stop by and enjoy the company of like-minded folks. It started

off averaging around 20-25 people showing up. At the last cookout, we had 66 by best count. We supply

the hot dogs and hamburgers and most guests bring a covered dish. For example, at the past get-

together we had hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken halves, pigs in the blanket, home-made stromboli,

home-made desserts, and the list goes on. If you haven’t stopped in to experience this function, you’re

missing out.

From the Board room: If you have been to a meeting lately, you may

have noticed our long-time Treasurer Kevin Kerr has retired from the

position. The Club thanks Kevin and his family for the many years of

commitment and dedication they have given the Club. Thank you,

Kevin and Cheryl!

Jasper Paige relinquished his trustee position to take the helm as

Treasurer until the next election for that position. Trout Nursery

Chairman Jordan Barber was voted in as Trustee to fulfill Jasper’s

obligations until the next election for that position. The Board thanks

all those involved in making this a smooth transition.

A final note: I always say, “you get out of the Club what you put into

it.” Never feel intimidated to suggest something or ask a question. We

love to hear someone new. If you’re shy, or at least not outspoken, pull

me aside and make your request privately. Get involved, join a

committee, have fun! That’s what it’s all about!

Women In The Wild was held again this year at the club. The event had beautiful

weather and great participation. We had close to 60 registered attendees, 8 great

sessions, and an enthusiastic group of volunteers who made it all happen.

The classes this year included: Archery, Essential Oils, Stop The Bleed, Fishing &

Cooking Fish Over A Camp Fire, Intro To Shooting, Orienteering, Horseback Riding,

and Self Defense. Our most popular sessions included Archery, Intro To Shooting,

Horseback Riding, and Fishing.

The event is a yearlong process of organizing and planning and would not be possible

without the some wonderful volunteers. A special thanks to Deb Laird, Karin Brian,

Diane McGuire, Allison Irwin, Caroline Sychterz, and all our day-before/day-of

volunteers. These folks really invest a lot of time and effort to put the whole event

together.

Also a special thanks to George Pfieffer and Jim Trainor for some of our more critical

day of needs. The event also had many great sponsors including Giant, Crops,

Wegmans, Lancaster Archery, and several more. It was a special day for everyone

involved.

HUNTER TRAPPER EDUCATION

All our classes at West Caln Sportsmens Club are over for 2019. We had a total class

attendance of 117 for 2019. This brings the number of students we have taught since

1993 to 5,664. I would like to acknowledge our team of instructors and thank them for

a job well done. They are our Northern Chester County Game Warden Matthew

Johnson, Merle Davis, Joe Fasano, Kass Geary Bob Fernholtz, John Primus, and Ray

King. I would also like to give a special thanks to Wayne Barrows and Bill Jenkins

for their work in the kitchen and keeping the students well fed. Thanks also to the

range masters who volunteered to set up tables and chairs . They were on time and

always did a good job. They certainly made our job as instructors easier. Finally

thanks to the W.C.S.C. for providing the facilities for the class. Without your support

H.T.E. classes could not be held. Since these classes started the accident rates

have dropped into single digits, which makes hunting safer than almost any sport.

Keep up the good work and have a safe and enjoyable season. God bless you all and

see you next year.
