    TOGETHER

    WE ARE

    BETTERLetter From Our President,

    Romina Ryals

It is truly amazing how quickly threeyears can pass when you areimmersed in a community! It hasbeen an exciting adventure, and onewith many rewarding achievements.Kim Fox and my terms are ending asboard members, but we would like tosay thank you for the opportunity toserve our Superstition RanchCommunity. This is a great place tolive and we hope we leave things alittle better for the group who follows.

The friendships you can make whiletrying to take care of a neighborhood

are inspiring. We met many of youpersonally through many of ourcommunity events. Thank you tothose of you who came out to askwhat you could do to help.

Embracing the ways of the future, our new blog helps us communicatewith you. Wanting to respect yourright to privacy while sharing on yourterms, the blog remains safe andprivate to community members. Wehope it continues to flourish with newenergy and communication.

In addition, a more comprehensivenewsletter with semi-annual updateshopefully has kept you in the loop ofactivity. We made a commitment togive you information sooner, knowinghow busy your lives must be, so youcould mark your calendars for events.

Our board has encouraged theformation of two committees,Landscaping and Special Events, anddid we reap the benefit of residentvolunteers! If you look around, youmay notice more attention to our

common areas. Trees are on a regulartrimming schedule. The mature trees havebeen groomed into a manageable state, preventing wind damage and losses duringstorms. Budgeting for pre-emergent haskept the weeds under control.

One of our greatest accomplishments thispast year was being named the recipients

of the City of Chandler Matching GrantProgram for 2010 for $5000. To date, weare the only community to make it throughthe rigorous process. We thank ourLandscape Committee chairperson, ValLanza, who has serve above and beyondfor us. Special thanks also to those of youwho came to meetings to show support forour cause and to those of you whoattended workshops for the needed credittowards our grant.

A landscape plan was developed for bothcommon areas and split into two phases.Superstition Boulevard, the larger of thetwo phases, was started first. Drainageand erosion issues were corrected withstabilizer, and many new plants and rockwere added. Safety was improved at drop-off points from the sidewalks.

Block Watch was recently re-activated witha large turn-out. Safety of the community isa priority with a recent increase in propertycrimes. GAIN (Getting Arizona Involved inNeighborhoods) will be the focus of ourAnnual Meeting/Block Party this year.

Staying current on issues concerning ourresidents has been our boards goal. Wehosted a Drowning Prevention Daypresented by Southwest Ambulance toteach Continuous Chest Compressions, thenew CPR.

The SRC board recognizes that solarpower is becoming a common energysolution. We developed guidelines for solarpanel placement in the community andbrought a reputable company to our blockparty so you could learn more.

We have also reached out to businesses inour community to get their support for our

residents and our efforts to make ourcommunity a fun place we all like tolive in. The response was great! Notevery community gets a helicoptervisit after their annual meeting! Thankyou for making visitors feel welcomewith your outpouring of food andhospitality at our events.

We are slowly changing ourneighborhood look from cookie cutterhomes to a more custom appearance.

You have been adhering to the Dunn-Edwards paint palette and sprucing upour community look. Did you know wetook our palette digital with the help ofDunn-Edwards so anyone in ourcommunity can access the paintcolors 24 hrs a day?(http://dunnedwards.com)A new board member packet has justbeen developed to ease the transitionfor new board members as theyassume their responsibilities. Inaddition, we also developed acalendar for board business, ensuring

efficiency and a continuity of servicefrom your future board .

The social network we have builtamongst us has also been rewarding. If it had not been for some of oursocial events, we may never have metyou. We have had fun eating, chatting, and riding hay rides at ourblock parties and holiday celebration.

May the fun and friendship continuefor years!
