Dear Park Lane Family, As another two weeks pass, we would like to again express our appreciation to our Griffin Community for showing true patience, love and support to both the school and our wider community at this unprecedented time. A real time of change and uncertainty is among us and the response to this has been incredible: we have never been prouder to belong to such a courageous, loving family who have come together as one in a truly remarkable way. It is during such testing times, that we encourage you to look forward to some of the wonderful opportunities that are coming, including one of our annual Proud Traditions: The Griffin Arts Festival. Although it will be slightly different this year, it will remain a fantastic opportunity to explore, promote and share our love of the Arts - one of the many wonderful advantages of belonging to the Griffin Family. Keep your eyes peeled for further updates of how we will be celebrating our Griffin Arts Festival as they will be uploaded to our social media platform throughout the upcoming weeks. It has been lovely to see how our younger Griffins have responded to Seesaw. The EYFS Team would like to express how overjoyed they are to have received all of the exciting things that our Nursery and Reception Griffins have been engaging with throughout the past two weeks and they eagerly anticipate what is yet to come! Our Time Capsule has proven to be a huge success: we have received some creative and innovative photos of items that our Griffins would like to put inside. Mr Cove is busy working on a plaque for, 'Our Rainbow Griffins,' which will take pride of place in our school grounds for future Griffins to discover and look back on as a historical, period of history. Please do continue with creating the items and we would like it to be as full as possible to ensure a true reflection of our present. It has been extremely refreshing to see the warm welcome that Miss Wormleighton, Miss Devlin and Miss Ryan have received since joining our Griffin Family, they have each been amazed by the passion and determination that our Griffins display on a daily basis. They have been particularly impressed with how our Griffins have now began recording their very own '6 o'clock Story Time Specials' and 'Beat The Griffin Teacher Challenges' for our Griffin Community. An extra special mention must go out to Ayla-Mae, one of our Nursery Griffins, who showed real bravery and enthusiasm whilst reading her story - it truly does cement how our Griffin values begin at the very beginning of their journey - we are all so very proud of you!! We wish you all love and safety over the next few weeks: continue to keep safe and remain positive. Happy 100th Birthday Colonel Tom! Many of our Griffins had an important birthday message for Tom, the inspirational veteran who has raised over a whopping £30 million for the NHS! Our Griffin Family hopes you had the most wonderful day: thank you for being such a beacon of light during these difficult times! What a truly remarkable gentleman - we salute you!! 🌈 Our Griffin Community were out again on Thursday evening to say a huge thank you to all of our key workers - we are forever thankful and you are all so valuable during this time. Tom and all of the key workers are hidden proof that superheroes lie within us all. We love to see the different creations our Griffins make, and how each individual family show their appreciation in different ways!

Pyjamarama

Today is Pyjamarama, a whole day dedicated to reading and stories... In your pyjamas! Thank you for sharing all your wonderful activities on Seesaw, it has been great to see so many of you joining in, families too and taking some time to read!

Thank you to those of our Griffins who have recorded your very own Story Time Special: it’s truly love to hear them and be able to share them amongst our Griffin Community, along with the reading challenges and book-related fun.

Happy Reading and keep the pictures coming in: the creativity and passion that oozes from our Griffins never ceases to amaze us! 📚

Attached is a link to a video to inspire our Griffins to get involved in a trust-wide competition of designing an original piece of artwork to be used as the poster for this years Festival, with the running theme being… Festivals! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34wOjD3tMXY&feature=youtu.be

All entries can be emailed to our school’s admin account or upload to your child’s seesaw account by Friday 29th May. Get your competitive caps on Griffins and design away! 🎨 🎭

Well-Being The well-being of our Griffin community has never been so important. Your well-being is fundamental to our health: it affects how well we can achieve our hopes and dreams and is strongly linked to our happiness. We have been collectively sharing ideas via Seesaw and our Facebook to ensure that certain activities target well-being and the response to these have been phenomenal! From Mindful Monday, Time to Bake Tuesday and of course Well-Being Wednesday, each themed day signposts specific activities for our Griffins to enjoy and get stuck into whilst having many positive health benefits. The feedback and kind, heartfelt comments from our local community have been most rewarding to hear: they are often what keeps us going during these uncertain times.

Times-Table Rockstars

Over the past week we have been calling all Griffins to the stadium so that they can battle away in our Top of The Rocks competition, against our sister school: Race Leys!

We are so pleased and proud to announce that…. Park Lane have been crowned the champions!!! 🏆

Well done to all of the Griffins for showing great determination and perseverance in developing your times-table knowledge, you have truly shown us what you’re made of!!

Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements - Which battle will be next?,

VE Day

On Friday the 8th May, we will be celebrating VE Day: the day that marks the end of World War 2, when the fighting between Europe and Germany came to an end.

We will be asking our Griffins to get involved in the celebrations of VE Day by holding their very own tea-parties with their families. Lots of ideas for party decorations will be uploaded to Seesaw, along with a multitude of other lovely ideas: baking cupcakes, creating unions flags, learning wartime songs, writing letters to veterans and various other celebratory activities.

We cannot wait to see what our Griffins come up with!
