Thanks to the staff for all their hard work and to Ellie Crean and Emily Minchin who went on the trip to help as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. The children have been using a new computer program called Prezi to produce a presentation about the weekend, which will be available to see at our open evening in July and podcasts can now be found on our website. 2p Challenge FOLSS have organised a 2p Challenge again this year. Each class has been asked to bring in as many 2p’s as they can and the class who collects the most will be presented with a trophy. This year the money will be used to purchase bird houses with in built cameras. This will enable the children to watch the birds back in their class- rooms. The more money we raise, the more bird boxes we will be able to buy. Y5 Visit to Middleton Village On Monday Y5 visited Middleton Village as part of their Geography curriculum. The children walked around the village in groups and used digiblue cameras to make a video recording of the day. They had an interesting talk from Mrs Bell at the church and were able to see the wonderful architecture of the building at first hand. They had a very enjoyable day and will shortly be producing Powerpoint presentations about their study with imported video clips of the village. Well done Year 5. Bugsy Malone Production Our production of Bugsy Malone takes place next week. We were very over subscribed for the evening performances and have allocated the tickets on a first come first served basis. We are sorry if you did not receive the evening or number of tickets that you requested. We are putting on an additional matinee performance on Wednesday 23rd for which tickets are available and there is also a matinee on Tuesday 22 nd . If you have been allocated tickets which you do not want, please return them as quickly as possible so we can reallocate them. Parents of children in Year 4 who are in the Choir, should have received a letter inviting them to apply for tickets for the matinee performances. We have given priority to Year 5 and 6 for the evening performances as we only put on a production every 2 years and this is therefore the last time they will be performing. The children and staff have put so much hard work into the show and we are really looking forward to it. New Reception Induction Afternoon Next Thursday afternoon we will be holding an induction afternoon for Reception children starting in September and their parents. The children will meet their new class teacher and spend the afternoon with them. I will be giving a presentation to parents in the hall with important information about our school. On Thursday of this week the rest of our new Reception children came into school for the afternoon and took part in a variety of activities. It was hard to believe it was their first afternoon in school, they were so at home and enjoyed themselves. We look forward to welcoming all our new Reception children and their parents next Thursday at 1.45pm. Family Day Our Family Day, organised by FOLSS, takes place on Sat- urday 2 nd July. This is always a lovely occasion when the local community comes together in a relaxed atmosphere. We often have families who are former parents and pupils of the school, coming along to the event. They are most welcome and will always be part of our school community. The event always raises a lot of much needed funds for the school. Please come along and support the event. Four Oaks Cluster Choir Today we had a visit from the Four Oaks Cluster Choir who performed a selection of songs from their repertoire which they will be singing in a forthcoming competition. We are very proud to have the choir representing the Cluster and delighted that some of our children are mem- bers of it. Children from Year 4 upwards are welcome to join the choir and should collect a leaflet from their class teacher if they are interested. We wish the choir good luck in the competition and every success for the future. URGENT REQUEST An old fashioned telephone is urgently needed for our production of Bugsy. Anyone who can help, please bring it into the school office first thing Monday morning.
