Building a school community isabout bringing all stakeholderstogether and working towards acommon goal. In simple terms forus, it is providing an educationallychallenging, engaging andstimulating program for all of ourstudents along with providing asafe and secure environment towork and play in and involvingstudents, parents and the widercommunity in this process.
Events that bring parents into theschool provide opportunities todemonstrate to children that theyvalue the school and theireducation. A community that talksin positive terms about schools andteachers, and the myriad ofrelationships that result, brings
about a culture of belonging and adesire to strive for the bestpossible results.
Over the first half of this term ithas become quite evident that wehave a high number of parents whocontinually support the students, staff and our school in general. Asincere thank you to everyone whohas been able to support our schoolin such roles as School Council,
Parents and Friends, assisting inthe canteen, PMP (PerceptualMotor Program), reading inclassrooms, driving students tosports events, attending specialdays such as the swimming
carnival and so on. As a staff weare eternally grateful for all ofyour assistance and we strongly
encourage everyone to strive tocommit a little time to our schoolas the research is quite compelling the more a family is involved ina school, the higher the level ofstudent connectedness which has adirect parallel to student learning.
your child needs to do to keepup.
Develop an absence learningplan with your teacher andensure your child completes theplan.
Remember, every day counts. Ifyour child must miss school, speakwith your classroom teacher asearly as possible.
We all want our students to get agreat education, and the buildingblocks for a great education beginwith students coming to schooleach and every day.Missing school can have a majorimpact on a childs future astudent missing one day a fortnightwill miss four full weeks by theend of the year. By Year 10 theyllhave missed more than a year of
school.
There is no safe number of daysfor missing school each day astudent misses puts them behind, and can affect their educationaloutcomes.Coming to school every day isvital, but if for any reason yourchild must miss school, there arethings we can do together toensure they dont fall behind: Speak with your classroom
teacher and find out what work
From 1 March 2014, new laws
will mean that parents can be
fined for not sending students to
school without an acceptable
reason. If youre havingattendance issues with your child, please let your classroom teacherknow so we can work together toget your child to school every day.
