Reminders
Dear Juniors and Seniors,
We have partnered with Career Services to give
our junior and senior majors access to Wildcat Joblink. Wildcat JobLink is a
state-of-the-art career management tool, offering UA students access to
jobs, internships, and a range of other services including campus interview-
ing and resume referrals.
To access JobLink, please visit the Career Services website at https://
www.career.arizona.edu/joblink. All you need is your NETID and password
to login and take advantage of these great services.
Why is SGPP only funding juniors and seniors to have access to JobLink?
The funding comes from SGPP Program Fees, which only our junior and sen-
ior majors pay. If you are a freshman or sophomore, you are welcome to
register and pay the annual $5 fee out of pocket. Visit https://
www.career.arizona.edu/joblink to register.
I will be a junior at the end of the current semester. When can I have ac-
cess?
SGPP will be requesting access for any students who have reached 60+ cred-
its each semester after the census date (the 21st day of the semester). So, if
you will have 60+ completed credits at the end of this semester, you will be
granted access next semester after the census date.

Model EU Conference
2015 West Coast Model European Union Conference In February, myself and fellow political science students participated in the 2015 West Coast Model EU conference at the University of Washington in Se-attle. We were able to translate our studies of the European Union - its complexities and dynamic power poli-tics - to elevate the discourse of inter-national cooperation. Through a com-bination of course work on “European Politics” (POL 452) and outside prepa-ration with our advisor, Dr. Eva-Maria Maggi, we were able to gain expanded knowledge of European historical and current issues in areas of economic, political, and social policies and individual country’s motivations and pref-erences. Turning from research of the EU Institutions and Member States we represented (The European Commission, Cyprus, and Romania) to practice summits and public speaking training with Samantha Stanley from the Department of Communication, we increased our grasp on EU policy development and negotiations skills.
At the 2015 West Coast Model EU conference, the University of Arizona was one of fourteen universities to participate, assuming the role of either Head of Government/State or Foreign Minister at two concurrent summit meetings on Fighting Youth Unemployment in Europe and increasing Common Foreign and Security Policy effectiveness. Applying our knowledge and preparation on EU politics, simultaneously learning from other students and EU representa-tives, we were able to cultivate a deeper understanding of cross-cultural relationships at per-sonal, domestic, and international levels. As an upcoming SGPP graduate, participating in the Model EU conference has allowed me to achieve tangible practice with global policy-making, a translatable skill to my Peace Corps service and future goals of working in the United Nations Human Rights Council. For anyone interested in pragmatics and fostering a deeper under-standing of the EU as an international actor, POL 452 and Model EU are for you!
Best,
Kelly Ancharski
