New Year Resolutions
Setting new year resolutions can be a great way to kick start the new year on a high note! A new year resolution is
a promise you make to yourself to encourage a small or large change in your life. It can be anything from drinking
more water to learning a new skill like cooking or jewelry making. New year resolutions should be realistic, positive
and meaningful to you so that you stick with it!
Positive new year
resolution ideas:
• Cut down on drinking pop and
sugary juices
• Get a gym membership and start
working out regularly
• Take a cooking class and learn how
to make a new recipe
• Be kinder to yourself, practice
more self-love and care
• Limit your screen time (spend less
time looking at your phone,
computer, tablet and/or TV)
• Smile more!
• Start a meditation practice
• Take up a new sport
• Eat more fruits and vegetables
• Volunteer
• Reduce your plastic waste
• Spend more time in nature
• Floss your teeth daily
• Drink more water
• Save up money to travel or buy
something special
• Keep your house and personal
space tidy
• Make more time for friends and
family
• Remind yourself what you are
grateful for daily
Becoming a
Mindful Shopper
and Consumer
Do you ever stop to think about why you are
buying something? That in itself is the key to
becoming a mindful shopper and consumer.
Taking those extra couple of seconds to think
about why you are purchasing something, if
you need it and what purpose it serves you.
We are living in a time of over consumers,
mindlessly shopping for materialistic goods
without understanding the impact it has on
our environment and life. Did you know it
takes 7,500 liters of water to make ONE pair
of jeans? That’s a lot of water!
Here are some easy tips to becoming a
mindful shopper and consumer:
1. Create a list of what you need before you go
shopping and don’t buy what you don’t need!
2. Try fixing what you already own instead of
throwing it out and replacing it.
3. Shop second hand!
4. Donate your unwanted clothes and household
items.
5. Purchase items with less packaging.
6. Shop for local produce.
7. Remember that cheap is not always better!
Sometimes spending a few extra dollars on
higher quality products saves you money in the
end.
8. Look for cruelty free, Fairtrade and organic
items when shopping.
Options Holiday Market
A big thank you to everyone who donated gifts and
goodies to the market, helped with the set up/take
down, worked the till, served hot chocolate and
shopped! It is because of you that our annual holiday
market was a huge success!
We look forward to having our market again this year!
Kathy welcomes her
