Fitness circuit: diagrams will give exercise instruction
Mid-Western Live Smart has developed a detailed fitness circuit and suggested bike and walking route for Gulgong.
This resource may be used as a self directed exercise program with two difficulty levels.
A fitness circuit around Billy Dunn Oval includes recently installed outdoor exercise equipment.
Suggested bike and walking routes of varied distances and challenges take in the streets and sights of Gulgong.
The Mid-Western Live Smart team has conducted significant close consultation with many community groups and individuals.
The map and circuit is now being finalised and a launch planned so that it can be used to get fit, keep fit and have a fun, active time around Gulgong.
Dozens of submissions received by Council in response to the draft 2013-14 Operational and Delivery Plan showed that rates are the hottest topic.
60 submissions and 17 petitions about a proposed rate distribution were received from the farming community, opposing a rate increase.
Only 15 submissions were received on other general issues.
Warwick Bennett, General Manager, Mid-Western Regional Council, says this demonstrates the passion of local farmers and encourages all residents to take the initiative and continue to play an active role in Council decision making.

FROM THE MAYOR’S DESKCongratulations to the organisers of some great events across our Region recently.
The NRL game at Glen Willow in May was a roaring success and will pave the way for future games and major events.
The Henry Lawson Festival in Gulgong showed visitors how well we celebrate history and culture and what an integral role each town plays in the local tourism industry.
Thank you to those who made submissions in response to Council’s draft Operational and Delivery Plan. I was very pleased to see a range of submissions and am always encouraged to know that residents are
taking an interest in the processes we undertake at Council.
It is very important to me that as many people are involved in our planning as possible. To properly represent the Region, my fellow Councillors and I need your input.
I encourage you to also review and respond to the draft Recreation Strategy currently on exhibition.

to be aware of changes to the law in NSW to
improve safety.
Before November 2013, owners of backyard
swimming pools must register their details on
the NSW Government swimming pool register.
Tim O’Reilly, Health & Building Manager, Mid-
Western Regional Council says his team will

“From 29 October this year, we will inspect
private pools and from April next year

Residents can register their pool online at

encouraging pool owners to make sure they are

Cobbora Holding Company and Mid-Western Regional Council will soon start work to upgrade Spring Ridge/ Laheys Creek Road near Gulgong.
The upgraded sections will be approximately 15km long, from the Local Government Area boundary to the intersection with the Castlereagh Highway including that intersection.
A road safety audit and pavement investigation will provide direction for the works. The upgrade is likely to involve a combination of widening, realignment and pavement rehabilitation.
The main aim of the road upgrade is to ensure safety as road traffic increases. The installation of bus bays for school buses to stop more easily, and a better road will provide significant benefits to residents.
Sally Mullinger, Business Manager Works, Mid-Western Operations says that the partnership with Cobbora Holding Company will benefit residents.
“This will help Council upgrade roads as well as encourage development across the Region”.
