Sophomore Ben Valentine was confused as to why a student was wearing a bracelet with the slogan “young and reckless.” He did not understand why someone would be proud of being a reckless person. From there, he got the idea to sell bracelets with the slogan “young and responsible.”

Valentine asked around at school to get a feel for how many students would be interested in purchasing a bracelet. Initially, about 100 people signed up to buy them.

Valentine set the price at $4 per

bracelet and has decided to be the model of his bracelets by donating 12.5% of the profits to charity.

His hope is that people will be reminded to be responsible while wearing the bracelets. “It is a reminder to make good decisions, to not drink, to not drive 100mph in a 45mph,” Valentine said.
