STATE FAIR 4-H BUILDING AMBASSADORS

Is the 4-H Building at the Missouri State Fair a summer tradition for you? Maybe the fair is a new experience for you and you would like to learn more. Either way, we have a deal for you!

We are looking for 4-H families and groups; this would be a great activity for a Jr. Leaders team or a club, who are willing to serve as 4-H Building Ambassadors in the 4-H building during the Missouri State Fair.

You ask, “What will I do during this time?” Here is what we need from you if you decide to help:

1. Greet people as they enter the 4-H Building.

2. Promote and answer questions about 4-H.

3. Help with the special activities held in the building.

2019 State Shooting Sports Competition

The State 4-H Shooting Sports contest will be held over three week-ends and at four separate locations. (It will be important to note these locations and distances during your registration of each entry in the contest. Registrations are non-refundable.

SHOW-ME 4-H WARES August 8-18, 2019

Showcase your 4-H projects, gain business and marketing skills, earn your own money as

an entrepreneur! 4-H youth ages 11-18 can apply to sell original poducts or services to fair-

goers in the Mizzou Central building at the Missouri State Fair. Sell as an individual, with a

biz buddy, or a team of three members from your club or project group. Apply as a youth

PHOTOGRAPHY RULES

Photos must be mounted on a rectangular 8”x10” solid mounting surface. The preferred surface is matte board. It can be the color of the photographer’s

choice. The photographs mounted on each 8”x10” matte board must be 8”x10” or small-

er. The mounted photo should be placed in a clear plastic 8 ¼ x 10 ½ inch sleeve.

PLEASE NOTE: Solid requires that there are no cutouts (or other holes) in the matte board, either around or behind the photo (for example, a surface shaped like a picture frame is not a solid mounting surface). Sleeves are intended to protect these special exhibits from handling, dust and humidity.

DIGITAL EDITING RULES: For State Fair 4-H photography exhibits, certain types of editing are permissible and others are not. 1. Altering (editing to change the contents of) a photo is not permitted for State Fair exhibits. Examples include adding a sunset or object, removing someone from the shot, 2. Airbrushing to cover a bad complexion, giving a photo subject dinosaur eyes, etc. Enhancing (editing to improve the existing qualities of) a photo is permitted. Examples include cropping the photo, eliminating redeye and changing levels of saturation, brightness, contrast, etc. *Include name, address and county on the back of each photo Photo sleeves and matte boards are available at the Sullivan County Extension office for $1.00 per

board and 25 cents per bag. You can also purchase them at Hobby Lobby in Kirksville.

POSTERS - no larger than 14”x 22”, flat only, do not fasten 3D items to the poster - name and address on back.

EDUCATIONAL DISPLAY - Educational displays should not exceed 18 inches in height, 6 inches in depth and 12 inches in width. Can in- clude three-dimensional items and must be free standing. (Posters with items taped to them do not qualify as educational displays.

CAKE DECORATING Decorated Cakes - Cakes should not exceed 13" in height or at the base. Cake boards should not exceed 1" margin on each side of cake form and is considered in the 13" base requirements. Cake boards should be sturdy, especially if using a cake pan. The use of styrofoam forms is recommended. Must only use Royal Icing, Rolled Fondant or commercial product that will harden and preserve the decorated cake. (No real cakes, butter creme ic-ing or tube/gel icing - displays containing these items will be con-sidered ineligible and will be rejected.) Adding Tylose powder to fondant will help it hold its shape in humidity.
