andQ4 2012hasbeenpresentedonacombinedbasis.
• Totalownsourcedcopperproductionup18%overtheprioryear.
• Africancopperownsourcedproductionup44%overthecomparableperiodto83,600tonnes,withstrongsequentialquarter
onquartergrowthatKatangaandMutanda.
• StrongrampupinownsourcedcopperproductionatAntapaccayandMountMargaret(ErnestHenry)followingcommissioning
inH2 2012.
• Stronggrowth in own sourced zinc production from theAustralian operations, up 11% to 147,700 tonnes, driven by higher
volumesfromMountIsa, includingthecommissioningofthenewLadyLorettamineandtheexpansionprojectatMcArthur
River.
• KoniambogeneratedfirstcommercialgradeferronickelduringApril2013,followingline1furnaceheatupduringFebruary2013.
• Prodecocoalproductionup19%to5.0milliontonnes,reflectingthecurrentexpansionplan.
• AlenoilfielddevelopmentprojectinBlockOEquatorialGuineaisnearingcompletionandremainsontrackforexpectedfirst
productioninQ3 2013.
• Overall,Marketingperformanceduringthequarterwasbroadlyinline withourexpectations.MetalsandMineralsdelivered
solidresultsdespitesomesofteninginpricestowardstheendofthequarter.Energy(coalandoil)sawmarkedly improvedprofit-

COPPER ASSETS
• Totalownsourcedcopperproduction(includingcopperproducedbythenickelandzincassets)inQ12013was321,800tonnes,
an18%increaseversusthecomparableperiod.ThisincreaseprimarilyreflectsstronggrowthfromAntapaccay,Katanga,Mount
Margaret(ErnestHenry)andMutanda,astheybenefitfromtheirrespectiveexpansionplans.
African Copper (Group interest: Katanga: 75.3%, Mutanda: 60%, Kansuki: 37.5%, Mopani: 73.1% and Sable: 100%)
• Africancopperproduced83,600tonnesofcopperinmetalandinconcentratefromownsourcesduringQ12013,a44%increase
comparedtoQ12012.TheexpansionprojectsatMutandaandKatangawerethemaindriversofthisgrowth.Cobaltproduction
fromownsourceswas3,100tonnes,anincreaseof35%.

• ThetwomajorexpansionprojectscurrentlyunderwayatKatangaandMutandaareexpectedtoincreasetheirannualcopper
cathodeproductionto270,000tonnesand200,000tonnesrespectively.Bothprojectsareontrackforcompletionduring2013.
TheKatangaprojectalsoupgradesthequalityofcopperproducedthroughtheapplicationofmoderntechnologies.
• Thefeasibilitystudyfortheconstructionofa100,000tonnes(ofcoppercontained)sulphideconcentratoratMutandawascom-
pletedinQ12013andnextstepsarecurrentlybeingevaluated.
• Aspreviouslyannounced,itisanticipatedthatthemergerofMutandaandKansukiwillbecompletedduringH12013.
• Mopani’sSynclinoriumshaftprojecttoincreasemineproductionandsignificantlyextendmineliferemainsontrackandisex-
pectedtocomeonlineduring2015.
Collahuasi (Group interest: 44%)
• TheGroup’sattributableshareofownsourcedcopperproductionat theCollahuasi jointventuredecreasedby13%to29,400
tonnesmainlyduetoanexpectedreductioningradesandaplannedshutdownofSAGmill3inMarch2013,partiallyoffsetby
improvedrecoveries.HighergradesandincreasedmillthroughputfollowingtheplannedSAGmillrestartareexpectedfromQ2
2013.
Antamina (Group interest: 33.75%)
• TheGroup’sattributableshareofownsourcedcopperproductionattheAntaminajointventurefellby18%to26,100tonnes,due
toexpectedlowercopperheadgradesandrecoveries.Thiswaspartlyoffsetbyhigherthroughputasaresultoftheexpansion
thatwascompletedinMarch2012.

100%, Punitaqui: 100%)
• OtherSouthAmericancopperassetsproduced82,200tonnesofownsourcedcoppercontainedinmetalandconcentrate,a
36%increasecomparedtoQ12012.ThisincreaserelatestoAntapaccay,whichbegancommercialproductioninNovember2012
andproduced34,200tonnesofcopperinconcentratesinQ12013.Theconcentratorplantachievedaveragethroughputrates
ofabove60,000tonnesperdayoverthequarterandisexpectedtorampuptonameplatecapacityof70,000tonnesperdayby
mid-2013.ThiswaspartiallyoffsetbyplannedlowerproductionatAlumbreraduetolowermininggradesandtheprocessingof
higherlevelsoflowergradestockpiles.
• TotalthirdpartycoppercathodeproductionatAltonorteincreasedby10%comparedtoQ12012,followingreliabilityimprove-
mentinitiatives.
• Goldandsilver(indoréandinconcentrates)ownsourcedproductionwasup9%and5%respectivelycomparedtoQ12012,due
totherampupatAntapaccay,inpartoffsetbylowergoldvolumesfromAlumbrera.

• TheGroup’sAustraliancopperassetsproduced63,600tonnesofownsourcedcoppercontainedinmetalandconcentrateinQ1
2013,a34%increaseversusthecomparableperiod.ErnestHenryincreasedownsourcedcopperproductionby107%to15,100
tonnes.ThiswasaresultofprocessingorefromthenewsatelliteMountMargaretopenpitminethatcommencedoperations
inQ32012,togetherwithincreasedproductionfromErnestHenry’sundergrounddeclinemine.MountIsaownsourcedcopper
productiongrewby22%to37,300tonnesasaresultofincreasedminingratesandhigherrecoveries,followingchangestostope
scheduling,improvementsinmillrecoveriesandtheimplementationofaflotationrecoveryimprovementproject.
• Bytheendof2013,itisexpectedthatErnestHenrywillcommencecommissioningofthehoistingshaftinfrastructuretoexpand
theundergroundminefromcurrentratesof3milliontonnesperyearto6milliontonnes.
• ThirdpartycoppermetalproductioninQ12013was71,400tonnes,anincreaseof39%overthecomparableperiod.Thisincrease
relatesmainlytoPasar,whichceasedproductioninJanuary2012duetoafire,beforerestartingagaininJuly2012.
• ThenewshaftatCobarisontracktobecompletedin2015.

• TheGroup’sNorthAmericancopperassetsproduced7,100tonnesofownsourcedcopper,a16%reductioncomparedto
Q12012.Thisdeclinewasprimarilyduetolowergrades.
• CathodeproductionfromtheCCRrefinerywas12%higherthaninQ12012at73,700tonnes,duetothroughputimprovement
initiativeswhichenabledadditionalanodestobeprocessed.
