The government brought some false, baseless and concocted charges against Maulana Nizami. 3 veteran freedom fighters including Pabna district freedom fighter’s commander proved the manipulation and forgery of those charges by making spontaneous appearance before the tribunal. In their testimony, they clearly stated that, Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami was no way involved with aforesaid charges. The countrymen are deeply shocked, worried and thundered as death penalty has been handed down against Maulana Nizami in line with those false charges. With this verdict, Maulana Nizami has been made deprived from justice. We truly believe that, he will certainly be acquitted if the appellate division ensures justice to him. The government has undertaken a master plan to kill the top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami in the name of trial of crimes against humanity in order to attain their ill political interest. Since the onset of the trial, the government had made many efforts to influence the trial procedure. Immediate after the formation of the tribunal, its chairman hold secret meeting with the then law minister. The subsequent Skype scandal, abduction of the defence witness from the tribunal premise and fixing of verdict date by the ministers and ruling party leaders proved the government’s all out control over the tribunal procedure. During a state visit in Egypt in 2013, the then Home Minister gave address fixing the date of verdict of Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayedee and Abdul Quader Molla. The ministers and the ruling party leaders openly declared to hang Nizami, Mujahid and Sayedee for several times. After the formation of the ‘Gana Jagaran Mancha’ under direct patronization of the government, the Prime Minister urged the tribunal judges to deliver verdict considering the demand of this ‘Gana Jagaran Mancha’. Following the execution of martyr Abdul Quader Molla, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stated that, her government executed martyr Abdul Quader Molla despite request of UN secretary general Ban Ki Moon and Secretary of State John Kerry. Such statement of the Prime Minister clearly exposed her vengeance against the Jamaat leaders and substantiated the claim that the entire trial and execution process are being implemented as per the design of her government. The Premier and her minister’s addresses clearly depicted their control over the trial process of the tribunal. The government is inclined to push the nation towards anarchy and turmoil. We are declaring following programs protesting the torture and repression of the government and their conspiracy to kill Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami: 1. Nationwide general strike for 24 hours from 30th October, Thursday 6 am to 31st October Friday, 6 am. 2. Nationwide prayer program seeking the eternal blessings of former Jamaat Ameer and veteran language movement hero Professor Ghulam Azam and demanding the release of Jamaat Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami and other detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir. 3. Nationwide demonstration on 1st November, protesting the conspiracy of killing Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami and demanding the release of other leaders. 4. Nationwide 48 hour general strike from 2nd November, Sunday 6 am to 4th November, Tuesday 6 am. I am urging all units and wing organization of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and calling upon the people of all walks including farmers, labors, teachers, students, intellectuals, journalists and other professionals to make the declared programs successful.” Special note: Ambulance, dead body containing vehicle, hospital and the fire service vehicles will remain out of the hartal periphery.
