From the Director's Desk:
Housekeeping Issues
We would like to appeal to parents and guardians to please note the following: When fetching your family members/wards,
please ensure that you give timeous notice to housemothers of your intention. This will ensure that bags and medication are
packed and double checked before the resident leaves. Spur of the moment announcements to take residents home has
resulted in unnecessary stress to staff and in particular residents. We appeal for your support in this matter. Please also note
that all instructions to staff regarding any aspect of care must be in writing. This ensures that your instructions are
meticulously followed and serves as a reminder for staff on future shift changes. Lastly we would like to appeal to guardians
to respect the privacy of staff who are off duty. Please ensure that you call or speak to those staff members who are on duty
as per the duty roster for the day. This applies particularly to guardians who want to speak to a particular off-duty staffmember and who could as well have spoken to the on-duty staff member or could have waited for when the particular staff
member returned to active duty. When you have to communicate with a particular staff member, a written note with a
request to acknowledge receipt will ensure that the staff member gets the message. Cont on Page 2

Cont From the Directors desk:
We are halfway to Christmas and yet it feels as if we have just
started! A quick review of the past few month's activities reveals
some changes that may have been less obvious for some while
others will have noticed the new fence along William Nicol Drive
and all around the back along the river. We anticipate that the
fence will be fully installed by the end of June and will
significantly add to the security of our residents. Through the
generous assistance of TELKOM we have had our telephone
system rewired and pay phones installed in all our residential
facilities. Our care worker staff have been insourced and are
now fully fledged staff of Forest Farm. This will significantly
influence the care to our residents as these workers are now
part of the bigger Forest Farm family. Watch this space for the
announcement of some exciting forthcoming events on thefundraising side all this while we eagerly anticipate new
services to be added for our residents' benefit. An exciting and
jam-packed next six months lie ahead!
