Open Online Courses (MOOC) which are aimed at large
scaleparticipationandopenaccessviawebarebecoming
widespreadinUnitedStatesofAmerica.Coursera,edXand
UdacityaresomeofthePredominantMOOCsfloatedby Stanford University,
MIT and other Ivy League schools of U.S. John Hennessey, President
of Stanford University had opined in one of the IEEE Spectrum
issues last year that online education andthe
roleoftechnologyineducationaregoingtobetransformative.
TheobjectiveofMOOCsistoincreasethereachofquality education to more
number of interested students.
Withthisinmind,theworkshopwasconvenedbyMSR.The
researchersofTechnologyforEmergingMarketsgroupofMSR discussed with
academicians from various states of India such as Tamil Nadu,
Karnataka, Andhra Pradhesh and Uttar Pradhesh.
Therewerebreak-outsessionsdiscussingthecurriculumandthe
roleofteachers.Weallneedtoponderuponthefamousquote
ofPlutarch,Mindisnotavesseltobefilled,butafiretobe kindled.Prof. M.

companylikeGoogle,Facebooketc.Infacttosomeextent that path is even
looked down upon. Another key ingredient to
thisspiritofentrepreneurshipistheacceptabilityoffailure.
Failureisneverpersonalized.Ifastartupfails- peoplegetup and move
onto the next startup. There is no stigma attached to
failure.ThissomethinguniquewhichIbelieveishardto

whattodo.Itdidn'tmatterifyoudon'tgettheanswerrightin
thefirst,secondoreventhethird(inmycase!)attempt.They drop hints at
every time, and they see if we can take those hints
andbuilduponthem.ThebestadviceIwouldgiveistobe relaxed and not put
pressure on yourself. Just convince yourself
you'lldowellbeforehand!Overall,I'dsaythattheinterview
experiencewasquiteenjoyable(exceptfortheair
conditioning,whichwassettoohighandhadmeshiveringall
thewaythrough!).Nothingwouldmakemehappierthan
seeingthenumberofSSNitesbeingrecruitedbyMicrosoft increase every
year, and I hope this is of some use to you guys. Needless to say,
