Quiet month, huh? Fake Nudes draws ever closer but here we are still little the wiser. With the big Canadian Autumn tour due to start soon, I’m sure we’ll hear something by the time that kicks off at the end of next month though, maybe even some new songs! I managed something I’d been planning for a while this month and got my hair dyed for the first time ever. It didn’t come out exactly as I wanted – It looks more like the dyed part has a sunburn – but it’s Jim-coloured at least and that’s pretty cool. Now if only I could grow a foot and a couple of inches like him too... Well, on with the newsletter! We’ve got what news there is and a cool exclusive feature on page 2 to help boost your BNL passions again during the lull! - Mil

Shoe Box
In this month’s shoe box of BNL siiiiites- Wait a minute, shouldn’t this be on the final
page?
Well, this month is a special exception due to a very happy revival in the land of BNL:
BNLHTTP.com is back!
BNLHTTP is the ultimate BNL resource on the web, the one shoe box to rule them all. It has everything, including hundreds
of audio recordings from live concerts, radio interviews, video footage from TV appearances and more. If you go spelunking
even deeper into the weirdest corners of the archive you can find photos of Jim from his high school yearbook, Steve doing
some pole-dancing and there’s even unpixelated footage of Ed totally naked if you know where to look ;)
And it’s all completely free! All you need to do is sign up with a simple email address log-in and you can access the archive
any time you like.
Founder Macoland gave me a little history on the site: “I started listening to BNL in the
mid-90s and instantly fell in love. I quickly became fanatical about the band and started
collecting everything I could find. After collecting materials of theirs for about 6 years, I
realised that it would be great to share the things I had collected with other BNL fans. I first
launched the site in 2003 and it slowly gained popularity as word spread throughout BNL
message boards. The original site got over 20,000 hits, which is not bad for a site that had
no advertising other than on BNL websites.
Everything went well until 2009 when Steve left. I was devastated, and that’s when I
started to see other BNL sites vanish. Many times I thought it would be easier to shut my site down as well but I never did
because once or twice a year someone would email me saying they found a rare track they were looking for on my site.
Late last year my web host informed me that BNLHTTP was using some old code that was going to be retired. This would
have broken the site, so I could either shut it down or create a new site from scratch. After talking to a few passionate BNL
fans, it gave me the motivation to make a new site and start adding new shows again. The response so far has been great,
with many people reaching out and sending new BNL goodies my way. I hope to continue to collect and share BNL
materials far into the future.”
There are still plenty of BNL goodies the site doesn’t have. Get in touch by emailing [email protected] if you have
anything BNL to share, particularly if you have any of these items:
♫ Everywhere for Everyone/Au Natural tour shows in FLAC format (Not mp3 format) ♫ A physical copy of Bucknaked (to purchase or borrow) ♫ Anything from the last Ships & Dip cruise (Ships & Dip 4) ♫ FLAC format versions of any live shows already on the site in mp3 format. ♫ Any tapes or CDs of old shows. (Macoland will convert and then return them to you.) ♫ Episodes of Ed’s Up, particularly seasons 2 and 3.
Alternatively you can also donate money to help keep the site running. Or just come sign up
for the mailing list and look forward to new updates of BNL goodness over the coming months and years! I’ve been
helping map the site to help improve navigation soon too, so there’s never been a better time to dive into BNLHTTP!

Answer next issue!
Last issue’s answer: Little Tiny Song
Who Knew?
The “I is for irk” line in ‘Crazy ABCs’ has a special
history compared to the other letters.
Whilst recording Snacktime!, Ed’s daughter asked him
what words he’d used for each letter one night, during
which he realised he’d forgotten to do an I word. So he
found the word ‘irk’, recorded the line and seamlessly
fitted it into the song. It wasn’t until after the album was
published that Ed realised he had fitted the line in the
wrong place however: The song goes FGIHJ.
And that is the story of why BNL’s alphabet song isn’t
in alphabetical order.
