From the Principal Planning to enrol?
If you will be enrolling a child in Kindergarten for next year, or you have friends or neighbours planning to enrol students at our school, we will be trialling a newly developed Online Enrolment System (OES) for the Department of Education from Monday, 20 May 2019.
The Online Enrolment System is designed to provide flexibility for parents to submit an Application to Enrol in a NSW Government School online at a time best suitable to you. The application can be accessed on all browsers and mobile devices including IOS and Android.
The online application process is currently restricted to: enrolments into local schools only children who are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents children who live in NSW.
We offer our support and encourage you to use the Online Enrolment System. If however, you do not feel comfortable completing an application online, a paper copy will be available for collection from the front office or can be downloaded from the Department’s going to a public school site.
Year 1 Penrith Lakes Excursion On Thursday 16th May, eighty-two excited students and four teachers visited the Penrith Lakes Environmental Education Centre. Student learned about how the man-made lakes were made, excavating river rock, layers of the earth and the insects and animals who live around these amazing man-made lakes. Some lucky students were able to get up close and personal with some of the wildlife that came to visit. All students enjoyed participating in the dip-netting down by the ponds and collecting information about the insects in the trees that they could see down by thelearning centre.Karen Epps

2019 Zone Cross Country Congratulations to all the students who competed at the Zone Cross Country Carnival. Rooty Hill Public School had a fantastic day placed 2nd overall. Every student should feel really proud of this outstanding achievement as they all contributed to our school’s point tally.
Ebony Dunwell, Jamaica Poilley, Simaa Boram, Aaliyah Acosta, Erika Mercardo, Olivia Khov, Gabrielle Morales, Olympia Ross, Amarli Ofiu, Lykah Halili, Ritia Teariki, Angel Pita, Ysabella Annecchini, Vivian Fishlock , Ava Fishlock , Jaedus Peterson, Khalia Evagelia, Sabaa Boram, Nabaa Boram, Dakota Christian , Anagha Martin, Imogen Saunders, Maddison Bryant, Zachariah McVernon, Marcus Schneider, Rudra Godowale, Bryson Cardona, Elijah Lee, Ethan Thomas, Zac Dunwell, Christopher Norton, Ryan Hogan, Nate Micallef, Akshaj Gavva, Aarush Gavva, Kye Klumper, Jasais Ah Kee, Trey Hodson, Hayden Hull, Alex Perry, Johannan Ah Kee, Cooper Micallef, Rohan Prakash, Cooper Brady, Dylan Loughton, Crus Lese, Henry Hill, Sharjeel Syed, Melvan Coombes.
From me personally, I would like to say a big thanks to all the parents, grandparents and relatives who volunteered their time to help transport our students to and from the event. Everyone lent a hand to put up our school gazebos, help students stretch and prepare for the races and with their after race recovery. A neighbouring school commented on what a great sense of teamwork and community our students and adults displayed on the day.
A second round of congratulation goes to the following students who finished in the top 8 and have qualified to represent the Mt Druitt Zone at the Sydney West Carnival. Jaedus Peterson, Vivian Fishlock, Sabaa Boram, Zac Dunwell, Jasais Ah Kee, Trey Hodson, Hayden Hull and Cooper Brady. Mrs Sandra Russell Cross Country Co-Ordinator.
Zone PSSA Students Over the past 10 weeks, students from Rooty Hill Public School have been attending sporting trials with over 80 students from all over the Mt Druitt Zone. We have some very talented sportspeople here at RHPS. Three boys made the Zone soccer team, Zachary Dunwell, Mounir Girma and Hayden Hull. Unfortunately Mounir broke his arm prior to the carnival and was unable to play.
The boys attended a GALA day last term where they represented the Mt Druitt Zone and played four hard games of soccer. Johannan Ah Kee, Jasias Ah Kee, and Cruz Iese made the Zone Touch Football Team and were very successful on the day.
We also had 3 students who made the Zone Rugby League team in either the under 11’s or open teams. Zachariah Matara, Johannan Ah Kee, and Jasais Ah Kee played in a full day carnival, the under 11’s were runners up and the opens team won. Congratulations boys! Zachariah Matara and Johannan Ah Kee attended trials for the Western Zone Rugby Union Team with students from Penrith, Blue Mountains, Mt Druitt and St Mary’s. There is still another trial to take place next week. I would like to wish them luck with these trials.
Whilst playing his games, Jasias Ah Kee was identified as having outstanding sporting ability and was then chosen by the Sydney West Selectors to join the Sydney West Teams for both Touch Football and Rugby League. This is an amazing achievement. Jasais will be travelling to the Central Coast for a 3 day carnival for each sport later in the term. We would like to congratulate Jasais on this massive achievement and a huge Good Luck from all of the students and staff at Rooty Hill Public School. Noele Steward PDHPE Coordinator

Parent Workshop – Reading On Monday 6th May we hosted our first Parent Workshop of
the year. The aim of the workshop was to enable parents to
better support their child’s reading at home and encourage
and foster a love of reading. We had a fantastic turn out with
over fifteen parents attending. They were guided through the
importance of reading at home, how we teach reading at school and a variety of
strategies they could implement at home to help their child become more confident
readers.
We will be hosting another workshop later this term with a focus on how parents can
support their child in Numeracy.

PaTCH Our PaTCH (Parents as Classroom Helpers) program started late last term. Each fortnight
our parents learn about supporting students in our classrooms with an aspect of Literacy or
Numeracy. This week our PaTCH parents had their first visit into classrooms. They really
enjoyed their first experience, reading and
discussing stories they chose with groups of
students. Not only did the PaTCH parents enjoy
this experience, but so did students and
teachers.

Year 1 Excursion: Riverside Theatre On Tuesday 7th May many students in Year 1 travelled by bus to the Riverside Theatre at
Parramatta to watch a live performance of the production “Wolfgang’s Magical Musical Cir-
cus”. Students watched a man known as Mozart tumble and twirl as musical mayhem and
movement fused in this remarkable performance with a twist of circus. Students were highly
entertained and amused as they watched the performers act and move to the classical
music. At the conclusion of the show the performers came back on stage where they gave
students the opportunity to ask them questions about the show or performing in general.
The following day students were able to write about their experience at Riverside Theatre
and their favourite part of the performance.
