The Census Bureau's Partnership Specialist Lisa Corsigliajoined us for our meeting on Monday and presented aboutthe Census endeavors for 2020 and how important it isfor this to be an accurate count of our residents. The count is mandated by the Constitution andconducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, a nonpartisangovernment agency. The results of the census alsodetermine the number of seats each state will have in theU.S. House of Representatives, and they are used to drawcongressional and state legislative districts. Participatingin the census is required by law, even if you recentlycompleted another survey from the Census Bureau. Acomplete and accurate count is critical for ourcommunity, because the results of the 2020 Census willaffect community funding, congressional representation, and more.
