Sacred Heart Session 2: An Encounter with Mercy

We are not defined by our mistakes. In Confession, Jesus invites us to encounter his mercy and be healed by his love. When he tells us “Go and sin no more,” he also gives us the grace to do so.

In memory of Lucille Hoscheid a donation was made to the Sacred Heart Capital Campaign.

“Please accept this gift in memory/honor of Lucille Hoscheid toward the Sacred Heart Capital Campaign. Mom would have loved the changes we are making.”

SACRED HEART BUILDING RENOVATION TEAM

The Bishop and His council have approved all or our building plans! Our next order of business is to have the architect make detailed drawings and then start the bidding process. The only item than can hold us up now is, after the bids come in, we don’t have half the money in the bank.

Committee Members are: Bill Miller, Eddie Desrosier, Ericka Vasko, Jason Dahl, James Johnson, Jimmy Mack, John Ander-son, and Judy Hanson

Lunch Servers: • March 4 Patty & Sue • March 11 Christy & Sharon P.

YOUTH MINISTRY Middle School Youth Rally, "Fully Alive"

Explore who/what makes us fully alive! • Who: Grades 6-8 • Where: St. Philip's Church, Bemidji • When: Sun, March 18, 1p-7:30p; We'll leave Sacred

Heart at 10:00a. and return around 10p • Why: Explore your relationship with Jesus and see how

He can be a fulfilling part of your life. • Highlights: speakers, Mass, break-out sessions, 3-on-3

basketball tournament, snacks, and more.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE

• Good News! -- The Bishop and Diocesan Con-sultors have approved our building renovation project. The Diocese has granted us permission to go ahead with

our architect to complete the detailed drawings and submit them to the contractors for bid proposals. We hope to do this by March 1.

• The only condition is that we cannot sign a con-tract with contractors until we have half the money for the project. Total new estimated cost of the pro-ject without paving the parking lot is $1.467 mil-lion. However, the building committee has priori-tized the add-ons which we will do according to how pledges and gifts come in. The new base cost of the building project is $1.35 million instead of $1.3. This means we will need to have $675,000 be-fore we can sign a contract.

• Presently we have about $622,000 in cash on hand so we need $53,000 to reach our goal for now.

More information will be coming out on details as we go forward. - Fr. John and the Capital Campaign Committee

Soup Supper and Stations of the Cross Sign-up sheets are available in the back of the church. You are welcome to sign up for just the supper or both.

Farm & Rural Help Line– Minnesota Farmers Union poli-cy supports greater funding for mental health providers and doctors in rural areas. While it may take some time to see this become reality, it’s heartening to see the Minnesota De-partment of Agriculture taking steps to address this issue. Recently, MDA unveiled the Farm & Rural Helpline a a resource for Minnesota farmers and rural residents under stress. The free, confidential services is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Farmers who dial the toll-free number at 833-600-2670 will speak with a counselor who is trained to ask questions and discuss the unique stresses seen in agriculture. Farmers don’t have to offer any personal information beyond volun-tarily providing his or her first name and a call back number if disconnected. While counselors will be trained to direct callers to resources for follow-up assistance, their main ob-jective will be to listen to concerns and help farmers find a solution. The Farm & Rural Helpline can connect callers to financial assistance programs, health and mental health services, legal help and more. Farming has always been hard work, threatened with the uncertainty of weather and market prices. In a time of eco-nomic depression like the one we’re experiencing, it gets that much harder. Doing the tough physical work of harvest while feeling nervous about the price you’re going to re-ceive for the crop takes a toll on one’s mind. And the chaot-ic political atmosphere does not help. Additional help is available through Minnesota State Colleges and Universi-ties. Ted Matthews, a state rural mental health specialist based out of MnSCU, meets with farmers one-on-one and free of charge #320-266-2390. No insurance needed. Must have paperwork or referral.
