Dengue Malaria Sw ine flu

Though simple, fo llow these steps, as prevention is better than cure.

Dengue - Ø This is a disease caused and spread by mosquitoes , so the chief preventio n is –

prevent getting bitten by m osquitoes. Ø For this use mosquito repellents , net the wind ows and d oo rs so that entry of

mosquitoes is curtailed and use mosquito nets on the bed. Ø Preven t bree ding of mosquitoes by taking care that no s tagnant water re mains in the

pre mises and surro un dings—like refrigerator water trays , potted plant trays , pet o r

bird wate r bowls etc. Ø Having 8-10 tulsi leaves with black pepper o r guduchi svarasa are beneficial.

Malaria- Ø This is a lso a disease caused by mosquitoes so the prevention is same as above. Ø Preventive m edicine-

· In malaria prevalent reg ions(ende mic) and while travelling to such areas preve ntive drugs like Q uinine or Mefloquine as per docto r’s advice should be

taken.

Sw ine flu- Ø This is a kind of influenza i.e. flu caused by virus and spread by droplet method i.e.

when the patient co ughs , sneezes minute d roplets are formed and whe rever they spread or settle down –d ry and bec ome airb orne they can cause the disease.

So- Ø Patient should ideally be ke pt in a separate roo m with o ne family me m ber attending

him. Ø Clothes especially handkerchiefs should be washed separately and g iven a rinse with

dettol. Ø The patient should cough and sneeze by cove ring the mo uth with a handke rchief.

Ø Patient and th ose coming in contact should wash hands frequently and tho ro ughly. Ø Avoid going in public congested areas and if required to go wear a mask.

Ø Practice pranayam a, pa rticularly bha srika and k apalbha tti.

Ø 8-10 Tulsi leaves with black pepper or g uduchi sva rasa or va sa sva rasa are beneficial.

Ø Sitopaladi churna , Haridra khand a, vasa avleha, talisadi churna are also useful preparations.

IIAPS News Foundation day

Ø On 1st August, 17th foundation day of IIAPS was celebrated. A Gayatri Yagna was performed –the staff and students actively participated in it. H’onble Vice-Chancellor, Padmashri Vd. Rajesh Kotecha and Registrar, Shree R.M. Zala graced the

function by their esteemed presence.

Ø Fresher’s orientation programme

Fresher’s orientation for 1st year students was conducted by Ms. Jigisha Pancholi, HOD, Bio-Chemistry dept., wherein welcome, presentation on etiquette and games were held. A speech by Principal, Dr. Joban Modha, on the topic "Ayurved Pharmacy Education", was given to make the students aware about the current scenario of Ayurved Pharmacy Sector and their future prospects.

Navratri celebration

Navratri festival ‘Pharma rhythm 2015’ was celebrated in IIAPS with great enthusiasm for five days from 17thto 21st Oct. 2015. Aarti and Garba decoration competition were held and looking to the participation three prizes were declared in each of them. For Aarti decoration, Richa Jani and Barkha Nainvani secured first and second position resp., while the third position was secured by Shreya Jani and Maitreyi Raval. For the Garba decoration, Bhagyashri Dama, Rashmi Kansagra and Maitreyi Raval secured the first , second and third position resp. Ø MEGA PRINCE- Mr.Hardik Chauhan Ø MEGA PRINCESS – Ms.Dhara Pandya.

Sports Kabbadi 16/ 9 / 15 - The girls Kabbadi team became champion at University level by winning the finals against Govt. Ayurvedic College, Vadodara. Table tennis 20/ 9 /15 - Twinkle Vaghela and Toral Dethariya were runners up in the Doubles Table tennis tournament.

NSS activities Kvatha distribution for Swine flu and Dengue: On 29 August 2015, a camp was held for the distribution of Kvatha for swine flu and dengue in association with Jilla Panchayat at 15 different places of Jamnagar district for 15 days. 33 students from D.Pharm.(Ayu) I and II year, B.Pharm.(Ayu) I year participated in it. Patients as well as healthy persons took benefit of this Kvatha. Students hereby received training of bulk preparation of kvatha, how to manage distribution and related activities.

Volunteering in LN4 Prosthetic hand camp: Two days camp organized by Rotary club, Jamnagar,was held for the handicapped people on 24th Oct. Where, on 24th there was training program for the volunteers who were going to fit the artificial hand and on 25th about 150 beneficiary people were fitted with this artificial hand.

Regular activities like Blood donation camp, campus cleaning etc. were also carried out.

Marathon Students along with the dynamic principal of IIAPS, Dr. Joban Modha walked the marathon arranged by Naval wing of Jamnagar.

Guest Speech 15/ 10 / 15- Mr.Chintan Vora, Assistant Professor in B.Com and BBA Program at Sri G H Gosrani college and Shri D D Nagda BBA College, gave a lecture on the topic “Gateway to time management” thereby creating awareness about time management.

Our Artist Ms. Vaidehi Vadhvana of III B.Pharm. (Ayu) won the first place in ‘Nature painting’ competition organized by Reliance Ind. Ltd. and was awarded Rs. 1000/-. The competition was of district level and only the first place was declared –the second and third place were not given as standards for the same were not fulfilled. IIAPS family congratulates our artist who has previously also won several awards for her this artistic skill.
