As I sit here in my office and contemplate how quickly 2017 went, I am reminded of all the great things God did in our midst last year. God is here with us at First Bap- tist Church and every time I walk into a worship service or Bible study here, I can see Him working in our con- gregation as people are growing in their walk with Him. As we look forward to 2018, we need to remember the victories this past year. However, God is telling us in Isaiah 43:18-19, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” We should not get wrapped up in the victories of the past. Those things are gone. We need to look ahead to what new things God has for us in the future! Isaiah asks a perfectly good question of those who read these verses. “Do you not perceive it?” In other words, we don’t want to miss the new opportunities God gives us in the new year. This is the year First Baptist, every one of us, needs to look deep down in our hearts and find where God wants us as a church. To be a New Testament Church, we need to be on the lookout for ministry opportunities and take them. Keep praying church, where God would have you serve this year! Pastor Arlen

New Ministry at FBC All are welcome to be part of a new

ministry starting at FBC:

The Prayer and Blessing Ministry, sending messages of Hope.

We plan to meet monthly to pray for those who are sick and those who are

shut in from our congregation and to send notes of encouragement

to them. The Prayer and Blessing Ministry will

meet on Monday, January 29 and Monday, February 26 at 10:00 AM

at the church. Please contact Merri-Jo Godfrey,

Donna Adams, or the church office for more info.

No sign up is necessary. We hope to see you there.

Preschool News

We hope you all have had a very blessed Christmas. Any one of our preschoolers could tell you that Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas. They did a wonderful job of learning the songs that went along with the Christmas program we performed for their families. We are looking forward to sharing more about our Savior with the children in the new year. If anyone has a child to register for the coming school year we will be taking registrations in January for our returning students and students from our church family. We wish you a wonderful 2018. Please keep us in you prayers. We count on them. Susan Musser Preschool Director

Lighthouse Youth Info The new year is here, and I am so excited for what God has in store for our youth students! We are back to Winter Camp January 5th, 6th and 7th! The youth leadership team and I would like to thank all of you who have helped the students attend camp once again! We are extremely grateful and cannot wait for our fun filled weekend of worship and learning with them. We are also planning another community dinner we would like to make everyone aware of!! The date has not been set, but it will be very soon!!! It is our goal during our time with the students, to help teach them to have a servant’s heart. To spread the love of Christ through their actions, not just words. If you reside anywhere near our church, you know our town is in desperate need of Christ's love. What better way to start the year, then to host a meal, and show them who Christ is? I am calling you all to action with us. Please pray on how God would have you help the youth with this mission. It could be as simple as coming, being present, and being a light to all who enter through the doors. In Him, Jenn Thompson Youth Director

The Lighthouse Youth Group is for all students in

6th through 12th grades and meets Wednesday evenings

at FBC at 6:30.

We hope you will join us!
