driver, James Zelinko, for OVI. He was unable to find someone to pick him up and was transported to Wood

just heading home from his girlfriend's residence and had not realized there was a stop light. I issued Randolph a

citation for failing to obey a traffic control device and gave him a court date of 07/10/12 at 1645 hours.

While on patrol, I was entering onto I-75 southbound from US 20. As I was looking to merge into traffic, I observed a

black vehicle traveling in the left hand lane on I-75 South at a very high rate of speed. The vehicle was quickly passing

by other vehicles in the area. While I was accelerating in an attempt to match the vehicle's speed, it made a double

lane change from the far left lane to the far right lane, all in one motion. I was able to catch up so that I was directly

behind the target vehicle. I followed behind the vehicle for 3 to 4 seconds at a speed of 100 mph, which was verified by

my vehicle's speedometer and radar unit #E22204. At a speed of 100 mph I was still not gaining distance on the target

vehicle. I activated my overhead lights and siren and the vehicle pulled over. I approached the driver, LaPoint, and

advised him I had "paced" his vehicle at 100 mph. LaPoint stated "Yeah, I'm sorry. My little girl fell and broke her arm",

implying he was trying to get to her location. I issued LaPoint a citation for Speed - Over Limits 100/65

(4511.21). Radar #E22204 was checked at 2030 hrs and was found to be working properly.
