"Who Do You Say that I Am?"

Ohio River Valley District clergy hadan early start to the Lenten season onShrove Tuesday. In his message titled"When Jesus Prayed Alone," Dr. ToddD. Anderson invited us to considerhow prayer shaped Jesus' identity andhow prayer shapes our understandingof Jesus' identity.

After he prays, Jesus turns to the disciples and asks them, "Who do thecrowds say that I am?" and then "Who do you say that I am?" (Luke 9:18-20).

During this Lenten season, we invite you to pray over these questions thatJesus also asks us about his identity.

Who do the people around you each day say that I am?Who do you say that I am?

    Is our answer,

A superhero who swoops in to rescue us from pain and make everythingright again?Someone who is made in our image of a righteous warrior king? Just agood guy?Or, someone who prays alone, who seeks input and help from his friends? One who takes up his cross and invites us to do so as well?

May our prayers during this Lenten season deepen our faith in andunderstanding of what it means to join Peter in naming Jesus as, "The Messiahof God."

    Reggie's Memorial: Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who helped with the celebration of Reggie Brown's lifelast Friday.

A special thanks to Forest Chapel for hosting and providing hospitality,
