From textiles to aseptic bottling Kitti Pongsakdi (father of today's owner), originally established Suwan Spinning and Weaving textile company - which is now one of the top producers of yarn and fabric in Thailand - along with other textile business interests. This venture into the Thai drinks industry by son Pongsakorn Pongsak as the General Beverage Company, sees him become a co-packer for the major beverage producers of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations).

Right supplier to provide flexible solution Following a visit to the Sidel stand at Anuga in Germany in 2012, senior managers from General Beverage were introduced to Sidel technology and aseptic filling for the first time. Wanting a supplier capable of supplying a safe turnkey solution to produce ranges of high quality beverages, they became keen on Sidel’s overall technology capability. Project discussions were then conducted with the Sidel team to consider the solution that best matched the customer’s needs.

High-technology co-packer for entire ASEAN regionThe Thai producer chose to partner with Sidel and imported nearly all of the equipment needed for the line. Consequently, Sidel designed, manufactured, supplied, installed and commissioned the whole bottling line to produce various ranges of high quality beverages like coffee, tea, milk and fruit juices. The plant, which is in Bangkok only 60 km away from Sidel’s local office, is being built in three distinct stages. The first stage - already completed - now boasts the country’s fastest production line of PET aseptically filled bottles.

Highest quality, hygiene and food safety with optimum efficiencyThe line comprises: a Sidel SBO20 Universal2eco blow moulder equipped with the Ecoven to reduce energy consumption; the first-ever Sidel aseptic filler to handle production of particulates size 5 mm x 5 mm x 5 mm connected to an Aidlin Eco cap feeder. It has a production capacity of 40,000 bph and is the most advanced, eco-friendly, manufacturing system in the region. The line can handle high volumes of quality beverages of low or high acidity, including the most sensitive products. It was the very first Sidel aseptic line of any kind to be installed in Thailand, where the tropical conditions make aseptic production even more challenging. Being new to the industry, the decision to bottle sensitive products was a bold move as it necessitates having the knowledge required to maintain standards of food safety to protect the integrity of the products being bottled. However, by working closely with Sidel and drawing on the company’s experience in developing solutions for aseptic production, the challenges were readily overcome.
