New Bacs is a technology renewal programme ensuring continuation of safe, secure and reliable services for the future. It is not optional as it is required to support increased volumes i.e. the current technology will not be able to support the volumes in the future. In addition it will provide improved security, faster clearing cycles, 24x7 capability and web based technology. BACS Board in January 2000 agreed to re-engineering External drivers, including the Cruikshank report have made our role and the need to cahge it highly vsisible within the industry.

BACSTEL-IP went live on 28 October 2002!

The project of c.20,000 mandays, with a team peaking at 150 people, was delivered:
