123c Medical Tubing

Tubing for medical applications mustmeet a number of requirements. Amongthose are cleanliness, flexibility, non-toxicity, the ability to withstandsterilization, chemical compatibility andresistance, and the absence of certainplasticizers and other leachables. NewAgeIndustries offers a broad line of tubing andhose products engineered to meet thesedemands.

Our silicone products offer a wide rangeof temperature use and are clean roommanufactured for purity. Peroxide cured

silicone offers added durability, thanks toits post-production curing, while ourplatinum cured products providesmoother surfaces, higher purity, fewerleachables, better clarity and lower proteinbinding.

TPE tubing is sterile weldable and heatsealable for aseptic connectivity. Itcontains no silicone oils and offers lowpermeability as compared to silicone.

Polyurethane provides excellent tensilestrength along with flexibility. Thisbiocompatible material is highly resistantto kinking and abrasion and is well suitedfor pneumatic control systems.

Cost-effective PVC handles a variety offluids and gases in pressure and vacuum

applications. It’s made from non-toxicingredients that conform to FDA

standards, and it may be RF (radiofrequency) welded and sealed.

Most styles offered by NewAgeIndustries meet USP Class VIrequirements and do notcontain DEHP or BPA.NewAge also offers anantimicrobial formulation.

Thermoplastic rubber, or TPR,tubing offers outstanding

compression characteristicsand toughness for peristaltic

pump use and maintains goodflexibility at low temperatures.

NotesThe most outstanding properties of SILCON are its

flexibility and resistance to temperature extremes. These, plus its good electrical properties and ability to self-extinguish, make SILCON an excellent choice for medicalappliances.

Peroxide-cured SILCON contains no sulphur or otheracid-producing chemicals, thereby eliminating thepossibility of staining, corroding, or deterioratingmaterials it contacts. It is extremely resistant to ozoneand U.V. over long time periods.

Care is recommended in the selection of fittings andclamps for SILCON as sharp barbed fittings or unlinedmetal clamps could tear into the tubing wall and possiblycause a failure.

^SILCON may be low pressure steam sterilized in-line orautoclaved at up to 250°F in a normal autoclaving cycle. However, if exposed to repeated steam sterilization or long-term high temperature or pressure, silicone will eventuallyrelax and become gummy. It should then be replaced.

Colors for industrial applications are availablethrough minimum order — call for details.

SILCON is not recommended for implantable or in-body uses or for continuous steam applications.

NotesThe construction of SILBRADE enables

silicone tubing to handle increased pressureapplications. SILBRADE offers outstandingresistance to temperature extremes and is madefrom raw materials that meet FDA requirements.

The flexible design and construction ofSILBRADE also allows excellent bend radii andpermits instal lation in restricted spaces withoutimpeding flow.

SILBRADE, a peroxide-cured product, containsno sulphur or other acid-producing chemicalsthereby eliminating the possibility of staining, corro ding, or deteriorating other materials itcontacts. It is also resistant to ozone and U.V. overlong time periods.

Care is recommended in the selection offittings and clamps, as sharp barbed fittings orunlined metal clamps could tear into the hosewall and possibly cause a failure, especially atelevated pressures.

Notes

CLEARFLO 70 is generally unaffected by mostoxidizing and reducing agents. Diluted acids andalkalies have little effect, though if highlyconcentrated they tend to make the tubing lesspliable. If chemical resistance is of major concern,in-plant tests are suggested.

In clean applications, CLEARFLO 70’s smoothsurface prevents lodging of bacteria andsediment buildup. It is easily drained and flushedclean with most available cleaning and sanitizingagents.

Clearflo® Ag-47 C l e a r A n t i m i c r o b i a l P h t h a l a t e - F r e e Tu b i n g

NotesCLEARFLO Ag-47 is suitable for a wide variety

of food contact applications and designed toprotect your food or beverage product fromharmful bacteria. It’s manufactured from a clearflexible Shore A74 phthalate-free compound withthe addition of antimicrobial protection. Theantimicrobial technology is especially effectivewhere there is infrequent use of fluids in warm orhumid conditions and the tubing has noopportunity to dry thoroughly between uses.

The antimicrobial properties protect thetubing against organisms that can cause growth-based discoloration and odors. Testing hasproven that the active ingredients neutralizebacteria rapidly, and because the ingredients donot dissipate with use, they can be expected tooffer protection for an extended time undernormal conditions. CLEARFLO Ag-47 offersantibacterial performance to ISO 22196:2011.

Unlike some products CLEARFLO Ag-47 is100% protected with the effective additive, whichis present throughout the tube and not only onthe liner, for protection on all surfaces. This isimportant in applications where the tubing issubmerged or dipped into fluid or if any surfaceof the tubing is cut or becomes compromised. Also, tubing products that only offer a liner layerof antimicrobial protection risk the linerbecoming separated from the cover. If theantimicrobial layer is cut, the tubing under thatcut becomes susceptible to bacteria growth. Thiscan often happen at the fitting.

Nylobrade®

21

■ Open mesh polyester braiding permanently encapsulated inwalls of clear, flexible PVC tubing

■ Phthalate, DEHP and BPA free

■ Raw materials meet California Proposition 65

■ Listed by the National Sanitation Foundation for food equipment materials (NSF-51) and potable water (NSF-61)

■ Non-toxic raw materials conform to USP Class VI and FDAstandards

■ Offers much greater pressure capabilities than unreinforcedPVC tubing

■ Mirror smooth interior permits outstanding flow characteristics

■ Crystal clear for full visual flow*

■ Corrosion and abrasion resistant with flexibility similar to rubberbut with much longer life

■ REACH and RoHS compliant NotesNYLOBRADE is made from non-toxic raw

materials that conform to Food and DrugAdministration (FDA) standards for use infood contact applications. Its NSF listingmakes NYLOBRADE a good choice fordrinking water applications, those involvingwater at temperatures up to 60°C (140°F),and food processing applications.

NYLOBRADE is generally unaffected bymost oxidizing and reducing agents. Dilutedacids and alkalies have little effect, though ifhighly concentrated tend to make the hoseless pliable. If chemical resistance is inquestion, in-plant tests are suggested.

Gasoline and oils will harden PVC overperiods of intermit tent use. In theseapplications, continuous use will slow thehardening process.

*NYLOBRADE HP (High Pressure) sizes3/8” I.D. and up have a tighter braid patternand therefore reduce the visual flow contactand increase the hose’s resistance tobending and flexing. Heavier walls on similarI.D.s will be more resistant to kinking.
