LEIGHTON’S RETURN
On Sunday, Carolina goaltender Michael Leighton made his first NHL start since Jan. 27, 2013. In the second period, Leighton
notched his fourth career assist on Jeff Skinner’s game-tying goal. He finished the night with 31 saves on 33 shots faced, a .939 save
percentage and was named the game’s first star. It marked Leighton’s first NHL win since Dec. 30, 2010. Per the Elias Sports Bureau,
Leighton’s gap between those wins (5 years, 333 days) is the longest between two NHL victories by any goaltender since Kay
Whitmore went more than six-and-a-half years between the last two of his 60 career wins in the NHL: #59 for Vancouver on April 13,
1994 and #60 for Boston on Nov. 2, 2000.

WARD SAYS NO-VEMBER
Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward has earned a 6-2-2 mark in 10 games played in the month of November. Ward has allowed just 16
goals on 279 shots faced, and picked up his first shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over SJ on Nov. 15. He has recorded a 1.58 GAA,
and a .943 save percentage in the 10 games, and was named the NHL’s second star of the week on Nov. 21.
KILLING IN THE NAME OF
In the last 13 games, CAR has killed off 28 of the 29 penalties it has faced. CAR is currently ranked first in the league in road penalty
