Welcome students and guests to the fourth annual “One Day Immersion in TV, Cable & Digital Entertainment (ODI) conference, presented by The Cable Center, and in association with Pace University’s Lubin School of Business”! We are honored to have the amazing support of our presenting sponsor, The Cable Center, (www.cablecenter.org), and pleased to once again partner with Dean Neil Braun, Lubin School of Business, Pace University. And how cool is it to host the event at the Schimmel Center at Pace University, home of Inside the Actors Studio?

We have a robust day filled with informative, idea-charged panels, career planning and networking opportunities. You’ll hear from our phenomenal keynote speaker – Richard Plepler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HBO. In addition, Comcast is here to host an early morning Coffee Meet and Greet, sharing insight and opportunity within their organization;

and for students who submitted resumes and passed the first review, Comcast recruiters will be conducting 5 minute speed-round interviews in the afternoon. As part of the ODI Scholarship program, there will be five cash awards of $100 given out today! All registrants are eligible.

Today we’ll offer you real world advice and anecdotes from the media industry’s top executives, and a wide-ranging and diverse group of speakers and topics. It’s your job to give them your attention, and ask thoughtful questions. Our speakers have committed their time to be with you today, and hope that you take advantage of their participation by asking those thoughtful questions and offering your opinions. You are among friends!

Each of you brings something special and unique to the table. If you haven’t figured out what it is yet…you will. Keep your minds open and try to make at least 5 new contacts today, not only with the speakers but with your peers. Those social introductions could turn into important networking opportunities.

Thank you for being here today. I’m confident it will be a very rewarding day!

Warmest regards,

— Dolly Wolf

special appreciation

Jana Henthorn President and CEO The Cable Center

Diane Christman SVP Programs and Development The Cable Center

I spent nine very rewarding years at The Cable Center. I was mentored, inspired, supported and given some pretty terrific opportunities that helped build my skills and career by two amazing and dedicated women.

My boss for those nine years was Jana Henthorn. We worked really hard, and laughed even harder. She made sure of that. Diane Christman joined the organization a few years later. Bonding over common goals (and the love of all things fashion), happened rather quickly. We were off to new adventures with our academic community and solid media connections, while strategizing on new relationships that would take us to the next level.

I’m most appreciative of The Cable Center leadership for consistently supporting students and education, specifically in the cable industry. They’ve been a One Day Immersion partner since its launch in 2012, and this year, The Cable Center is our Presenting Sponsor. That’s major!

My advice to the students today is, ALWAYS do your best to work really hard EVERYDAY, and build a reputation of trust and excellence. You never know when an opportunity to work together again will occur, and when it does, its win-win for both partners.

Thank you, Jana and Diane for standing by me, and this very special conference. Your unwavering support has been helping to connect some fabulous executives with tomorrow’s leaders.

The ODI Scholars program is spearheaded by Cable Pioneers and industry benefactors, Zenita Henderson, Director, Marketing Operations & Business Development, Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE / ISBE), ODI Executive Committee member, and Matt Aden, retired cable industry sales executive. Henderson and Aden helped to create the program with their vision of driving diversity and encouraging college students to seek STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) careers in the cable telecommunications industry. Last year, we launched an essay contest.

ODI Scholars

This year, we have provided travel stipends to help students attend the event, and experience their first ODI in person. As mentioned previously, we will also award five students $100 today. That’ll buy a month’s worth of your favorite Starbucks or my favorite chicken platter from the Halal Guys cart on 53rd & 6th.
