Rabbi Lawrence TeitelmanA native of Albany, Rabbi

Teitelman attended Yeshivat Bnei Akiva in Toronto, Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel, and Yeshiva University in New York where he earned his B.A. in Mathematics, M.A. in Semitic Languages, and Rabbinic Ordination. Since 2006, Rabbi Teitelman has served as the Rabbi of Young Israel of New Hyde Park, creating programs and expanding Talmud Torah opportunities at the synagogue.

Before moving to New Hyde Park, Rabbi Teitelman served as Rabbinic Intern at Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood and Rabbi of Young Israel of Jackson Heights. He has lectured and served as guest rabbi in synagogues around the country. Rabbi Teitelman is a member of the Rabbinical Council of America, Vice President of the Vaad Harabonim of Queens, and Volunteer Chaplain at North Shore LIJ Hospital.

Rabbi Teitelman also holds graduate degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from NYU’s Courant Institute and the City University of New York School of Engineering respectively. He works, alongside his rabbinic career, in the Information Technology profession, and also has been teaching Computer Science at Queens College for two decades.

Rabbi and Mrs. Teitelman have six children Sara Hanna, Yael, Atara, Yedida, and twins Temima and Binyamin. Together they open their home to the community while maintaining it’s legacy as a warm “home away from home” for visitors and families of patients at the nearby hospitals.
