Continuing to BuildMessage from the Party President

As we enter a new year, the BC Conservative

Party can be very proud of its accomplishments

during the past year. Our membership has

grown substantially, our previous debt has

been eliminated and a large number of

    Constituency Associations have been

    formed.

As we look forward to 2011, we

    can be very optimistic that

this will be even a greater

    year.

    The Board of Directors have

    confirmed that a Leadership

Convention will be held on May 28, 2011

at the Sheraton Vancouver Guilford Hotel, withmore details coming around the begining of

the leadeship race. The Party will be accepting

nominations for Leader beginning March 1.

Nominations will be received up until March

29 which will give all candidates a minimum

of 2 months to solicit support from Party

    members throughout the Province.

Unlike the Liberal Party (whose Leadership

rules will not be known until 2 weeks prior

to the election of their Leader), our rules

are very clear. Every Party member will h

an opportunity to vote for a new Leader. Un

the NDP Party (whose bylaws have gen

requirements), we will elect the best Leader

it male or female. In order to be eligible to v

a person must have been a Party member f

minimum of 21 days prior to the Leadership dof May 28.

Later this month, the Party will commence

process to develop an election platform for

next general election or any possible by-elec

that could be held as early as this year.

platform will be based on our Core Conserva

Values and our policies which are curre

under review. Party members and Constitue

Associations will soon have a copy of the first dof these revisions and will have an opportunit

input. The final policy document will be adopte

a general meeting of the Party later this year.

In order to be prepared for a possible s

election (or by-election), we are encoura

all our Constituency Associations to begin

process of recruiting candidates. We wil

running candidates in all 85 provincial riding

    the next general election.

    PREDICTIONS FOR 2011

My New Year Predictions should not surprise

BC Conservatives any longer but may

surprise the two parties that infest the BC

    Legislature.

January - Early in the year more than a

    dozen Constituency Associations will qualify

for the election of candidates under the new

qualification rules to be announced by the

party in same month. Many of the remaining

CAs will hold off their elections awaiting the

    BC Election strategy to unfold.

February - will see the BC Liberals

electing a leader that is Status Quo from

the Legislature. The current batch already

elected will reject Christie Clark because she

has new ideas they cant subscribe to and

she is not a part of the good ol boys club.

March - a major civil war erupts in the BC

Liberal caucus and the public looks to the

BC Conservatives as the option. The BC

    Conservatives have shown no infighting

and is talking about the vision for our future.

The Tactical Advisory Group stands down in

order to let the leadership contenders strut

their stuff and put a focus on the party.

April After two months of infighting the BC

Liberals and now the BC NDP show they can

no longer govern. The BC Conservativ

have the province buzzing about some ne

    exciting policies

May A new leader emerges from tBC Conservative party who articulates t

issues with a Vision not seen in many yea

The party is now 22% in the polls.

June All 85 constituency associations a

operational and 23 candidates are electe

4 current MLAs cross the floor and form t

BC Conservative party in the Legislature.

July Much talk around the province abo

a provincial election in September. The B

    Conservatives announce several adviso

groups to provide advice to the leader.

August Membership swells in the B

Conservative party as the party continues

    rise in the polls.

    September The Liberals announ

    an early October election becau

their weakness is the constant drain

conservatives from the party. The B

Conservatives have been ready since Ju

and expected to take a good share of t

    vote.

REAL OR NOT: Will the real BCC stand up!It has been noted by some members ofthe party there are web and social media sites out there that look or are named BC Conservatives, but are mostly filled with hate andmisinformation about the party. These sites are, for the most part, set up by former BC Conservative members who have left the party for a

variety of reasons. The party is currently working on solutions to deal with these sites, but it is important for our membership, the media

and the citizens of BC understand that not all conservative sites are the same. In the next couple of months, the party will

be rolling out new branding rules for party managed web and social media environments, supplying the proper

branding images and text to party communication directors. Be sure to look for the BCC Seal

    Approval before reading.

    October Far too much disillusionment

with the NDP and Liberals and the BC

    Conservatives win a minority government

but are confident in the outcome as their

Vision of BC outmatched the others.

    November a downsized government and

a number of new innovative ministries begin

their work to rehabilitate the old government

    ways.

December Merry Xmas and a special

thanks to all BC Conservative members who

    party in .

    PREDICTIONS (CONTINUED)

We must, of course, continue to increase our membership and finances and to form Constituency

Associations in those ridings that have not already done so.

At this time, I want to express my sincere appreciation to all Party members and, in particular, to the

those who have agreed to serve on our provincial Board of Directors, our Tactical Advisory Group, the Policy Review Committee, CA Boards, those who have contributed financially to the Party and

to the many other volunteers who have given their time and resources to the Party. I look forward to

your continued participation and remain extremely optimistic that, through your commitment, we will

succeed in forming the next government in the Province of British Columbia.

On January 8th, BC Conserveratives CA

directors on Vancouver Island got together at

Tigh-na-mara Lodge in Parksville, to discuss

the future and future plans of party. It quickly

became apparent, as people began to arrive

and find a seat, that the future was, indeed,

    bright.

The meeting was started by Tactical Advisory

    Group Chair

    Randy White and

    was led off by

    reports from each

    of the CAs on the

    Island. Current

    numbers include:

Sannich North: 49 members and North Island

    has 32 members.

While the numbers seem small, the assembled

directors were reminded that they have

been able to set up their respective CAs,

get recognized by Elections BC, gather new

members and host the partys first Regional

Meeting, all in less than a year.

During the meeting, the new party

    communiications director and spokesperson

Keith Roy, took part in a tour of Raines

    Broadcasting (a Parksville based media

    broadcasting and production company) to

learn about what was available and what the

potential of video media might be for the

party. He was accompanied by Peter Goldberg

    Items covered during

the meeting included the May 28th leadership

election and the development of an electionreadiness committee (based on the possibility

of a June snap election). Discussions ranged

from party policy to what we the party would be

looking for in both riding and party leadership

    candidates.

At the end of the meeting , Randy left those

gathered with words of encouragement and

    looking forward to 2011.
