    Bank is a financial institution whose primaryactivity is to act as a payment agent for customersand to borrow and lend money.

    The first modern bank was founded in Italy inGenoa in 1406, its name was (Bank of St.George).

    There are four types of bank: (1)-Public SectorBanks. (2)-Private Sector Banks. (3)-Co-operative Banks. (4)-DevelopmentBank/Financial Institution.

    An automated teller machine (ATM), also known as automaticbanking machine (ABM).It is a computerised telecommunicationdevice that provides the clients of a financial institution withaccess to financial transactions in a public space without the needof a cashier.

    On most modern ATMs, the customer is identified by inserting aplastic ATM card with a magnetic stripe or a plastic smartcard with a chip, that contains a unique card number and somesecurity information such as an expiration date or CVVC(CVV).Authentication is provided by the customer entering a personalidentification number. (PIN).

    ATMs are placed not only near or inside the premises of banks, butalso in locations such as shopping centers/malls, airports, grocerystores, petrol/gas stations, restaurants, or any place large numbersof people may gather.

    Customers should never share personal information like PINnumbers, passwords etc with anyone, including employees ofthe bank.

    It is important that documents that contain confidential

    information are safeguarded. PIN or password mailers shouldnot be stored, the PIN and/or passwords should be changedimmediately and memorized before destroying the mailers.

    Customers are advised not to provide sensitive account-related

    information over unsecured e-mails or over the phone. Take simple precautions like changing the ATM PIN and online

    login and transaction passwords on a regular basis. Also ensurethat the logged in session is properly signed out.
