The Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO) is committed to the education, promotion and participation of citizens through performing and visual arts, science and history. The goals of TASHCO are to establish dynamic partnerships and sponsorships; make TASHCO a part of the city’s infrastructure to identify Thornton as a strong arts community; support, celebrate, encourage, recognize and present a variety of inspiring programs; and develop sound, consistent, and reliable funding sources. Organizations supported by TASHCO: • Thornton Community Band • Thornton Community Chorus • The Young Artists Alliance TROIS AMIES EXHIBIT As part of this summer’s Women in the Arts, Thornton Arts & Culture presents Trois Amies (Three Friends) exhibition, featuring painters Sally Bullers, Jill Riggin and Monique Gray. Each artist exhibits their unique approach to the watercolor medium. Reception: Friday, May 12, 6:30-8 p.m. Exhibit: May 1-Jun 30, 1:30-5 p.m. NOW YOU SEE ME EXHIBIT This summer we are celebrating women in the arts. These works reflect practices and issues that women in the arts are addressing through creative and artistic methods. Be sure to come to the artists reception, we will have live performances by women musicians, poets and dancers along with a chance to meet and mingle with the artists. 2017 BREAK-A-LEG! OUTDOORS OPEN AUDITIONSAn Old-Fashioned Evening of Music & Melodrama July 27, 28 and 29 at 6 p.m.Carpenter Park Amphitheater • 3498 E. 112th Ave.

Young actors, ages 14 to 21, are invited to audition for the 2017 Break-A-Leg! Outdoors summer production of An Old-Fashioned Evening of Music & Melodrama. This production will present a one-act melodrama, plus a variety of music and comedy acts tailored to the talents of the auditioning participants. Theater tech crew enthusiasts of any age who are interested in sets, costumes, etc. are also invited to participate or volunteer

All interested participants (acting and tech crew) must register by Friday, May 5. Auditions will be held on Friday, May 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Thornton Arts & Culture Center. Tech crew registrants please plan to attend the auditions. Actors should also keep their schedules open for Saturday, May 20, 10 a.m. to noon for extended auditions and 7 to 9 p.m. for callbacks. Participants under age 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present at auditions to complete and sign paperwork.

Rehearsals are most Tuesday and Friday evenings, 6 to 9 p.m., May 26-July 25 at the Thornton Arts & Culture Center. Set, costume and prop construction “Tech Days” are most Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., from June 17 through July 22.
