- Growth is attributed to expansion in services sector, electricity generation and sale, and the USD 6 C billion Laos-China railway construction, which is anticipated to attract foreign investment and serve as a means for exports for the landlocked country.

- In 2016, the services sector grew 9.0% due to growth in wholesale and retail trading, �nancial services, hotels and restaurants, and telecommunications.

- Industry growth grew 8.0%, attributed to the construction of residential and commercial buildings and higher electricity production.

- Foreign direct investment is mainly in electricity generation, agriculture, mining, infrastructure projects and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

- Laos is supported by UN agencies, World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank to set up FDI and business-friendly regulations.

Laos is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia with a growth rate of 6.8% in 2016, and a provjected growth rate of 6.9% in 2017 and 7.0% in 2018, according to the Asian Development Bank.The building and construction sector is a key driver of the economy with major projects underway, primarily in Vientiane, covering Speci�c and Special Economic Zones (SEZs). More than 350 companies have invested a total registered capital of around USD 8 billion in SEZs, setting the path for the construction of modern urban infrastructures while creating more job opportunities for Laotians.
