GS 183 Natural Science: This course is a survey of science. It is intended to provide an overview
of the nature of scientific thought, scientific discipline, and how science affects our businesses,
communities, and everyday lives. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to develop
critical thinking skills necessary in scientific observation an, hypothesis, experimental test, data
analysis, and general theory development. (3 years, Lakeland College)
SC4730 Environmental Science: This course explores the issues of environmental science using an
integrative approach against political, geographic, cultural and economic backdrop. Through hands-on
and virtual labs and applied problem sets, students will study the impact humans have on the
environment and the costs and benefits of mitigating the impact. This course includes a laboratory
component. (2 years, ITT)
MBA 557/857 Green Sustainable Business Practices: Managing for social and environmental
responsibility in a global economy, is an introduction to developing and implementing a successful
program in the domain of sustainability and social responsibility. The student is introduced to methods
of implementing technologies and practices used in sustainable initiatives and how to measure the
consequent social and environmental performance. Reporting and presenting social and environmental
performance is given full treatment. This class reveals the most widely used concepts of sustainability
and social responsibility in the modern business organization. Likely to be the most important
challenges of the 21st Century, this overview addresses the essence of the emerging green economy.
MBA 590/890 Strategic Management: The capstone course utilizes and builds on the knowledge
developed throughout the MBA program. Assignments are designed to develop the student personally
and professionally through sellf-reflection-awareness9emotional intelligence) and the ability to apply
terminology and concepts to “real world” situation.
OLA 503/803 Theories of Leadership: This course examines leadership theories and themes, including
traits, situational and transformational models. Since a leader’s vision is crucial for organizational
success, special emphasis is placed on mission, vision, and strategic planning.
BA 488 Economics of International Business: Understanding the global economy and an awareness of
the political, historical, and social environment in which international business operates.
BA 474 Organizational Behavior: This course encourages students to describe and analyze the way
people behave in organizations by applying theories of organizational behavior. The course consists of a
balance among theory and application.
BA 454 Management Cases: Strategic Management: A study of current strategies and techniques of
administration and management, including business objectives, policies, functions, executive leadership
and organizational structure.
BA 450 Special Topics: Management of Quality: This is an introductory course in the principles of
managing for quality improvement. Students will learn a range of analytical skills associated with
systems thinking and process control. The course consists of a balance among theory and application.
BA 423 Production and Operations Management: Production and operations management is
designed to provide students with an in depth look at the components of organizational operations and

how they are managed. Successful management incorporates involving factory and service operations,
inventory management, quality management, capacity planning, supply chain management, aggregate
planning, and project management. Elements of shop floor control, status report systems, facilities
design, cost estimating, loading, scheduling, and productivity measurement will be explored. Important
tools to be covered include Theory of constraints, MRP, MRPII, CAD/CAM, CIM, JIT, SPC, and TQM.
Prerequisites: BA 210 and Math 220.
BA 374 Business Communications
Application of writing skills specifically for business managers includes annual report; routine
persuasive and special messages; proposals; and brochures. This course places written and oral business
communication within the context of general communication processes and familiarizes learners with
recent technology advances. Strategy for effective writing is emphasized by engaging in a variety of
business writing tasks. Prerequisites: ENG 102.
BA 370 Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management: The organization and operation of small
enterprises in services, retailing, wholesaling and manufacturing. Topics covered include importance,
status, problems and requirements of small businesses.
BA 365 Leadership Theory: Examination of process theories, relationship theories, and management
theories of leadership.
BA 362 Supervision: A detailed examination of the fundamental concepts, principles, and dynamics of
the supervisory process.
Examine the role of supervision, identify supervisory problems, and develop the skills needed to
meet the planning, organizing, staffing, and leading responsibilities of supervisors.
Students will also assess the legal constraints supervisors encounter.
BA 341 Corporate Financial Management: An exploration of instruments, policies and institutions
involved in financing the business firm; the administration of these funds, and the distribution of profits.
BUS 3315 Quantitative Analysis for Management: This course focuses on mathematical methods
used in decision-making. Topics include linear programing, queuing theory, transportation method and
working under conditions of uncertainty to make choices that improve business outcomes. Students will
use software to practice solving business problems.
PM 3110 Introduction to Project Management: This course explores the discipline of project
management. Topics include characteristics and phases of a project, the project life cycle, project
process groups, project knowledge areas ad project standards. Students will compare project
management to program management.
BA 225 Business Ethics: Recognize the distinctive set of problems encountered in the work
environment, to study contrasting theories currently being used to make ethical decisions.
BA 211 Micro/Macro Economics: Basic principles of both micro and macroeconomics. A look at
unemployment and inflation, fiscal and monetary policies, GNP, poverty and income redistribution,
exchange rates and international trade.
BA 210 Management Principles: Modern management theory, functional and behavioral approaches to
the administration of business enterprises.
