COURSE INFORMATION Course Number ABM 1 Descriptive Title Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing Course Credit Units (hrs/wk & hrs/sem) 3 Units (3hrs/week;54 hours/semester) Course Description The course presents the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and its challenges. It takes into account the whole scope of entrepreneurial tasks such as planning and organizing of new agricultural ventures; management of the functional areas of personnel; marketing; production; and financing, with special focus on capital budgeting techniques, preparation of financial statements and financial ratio analysis, break-even analysis and marketing strategies for an effective marketing mix, including the preparation of a business plan. Course Objectives At the end of the semester the students are expected to: Recognize and evaluate entrepreneurship as a career path and a source of innovation and new job opportunities Understand the historical context of Management Theory and be familiar with recent developments in Management Thinking. Learn basic financial management principles and techniques. Understand the need to design an effective marketing program for a business enterprise. Prerequisite(s) Eng 2 – Writing in the Discipline
