Whitesand’sEasterFestivalAnother huge thankyou goes to Cala, Kane and Jackson
who marched with Miss Roose, Mrs Roskelly, Stevie the
dog, Lizzie the unicorn and myself in the Whitesand’s
Easter Fes val on Easter Saturday. I realise it looks like we
had a very small school, but would like to acknowledge
the number of students who supported the fes val by
marching for other local organisa ons such as; Orcas
Basketball, Scouts, Girl Guides and Nippers. The march
seemed more alive than ever and con nues to be a
wonderful aspect of Huskisson’s Easter fes vi es.
StrongerSmarterCircleDuring the holidays we took possession of the sandstone
blocks for our long planned Stronger Smarter circle. This is
the beginning of the
development of the
Indigenous sculpture
garden which will
include na ve plants
and ar s c
instalments made by
students in the
coming years.
Currently classes are
taking the
opportunity to use
the circle to complete
sharing circles and
outdoor lessons.

Principal’s Message Welcome back everyone, a er what has been a very busy
holiday.
We started our term with a very moving and respec ul
service for ANZAC day. We were joined by Mr Alex Paton
from the RSL sub‐branch who spoke about the meaning of
ANZAC day. The children then listened to Lieutenant
Travis Lovell from HMAS
Creswell, who delivered one of
the most relevant and inspiring
addresses to young people,
that I have ever heard. I would
like to thank both gentlemen
for being a part of our service.
The children have grown from
this opportunity.
ANZACDayDuring the Holiday the
township of Huskisson also held their annual ANZAC day
march and memorial ceremony. This year we had around
40 students a end the march in full school uniform.
These students were joined my Mrs Rosskelly, Miss Leslie,
Mr & Mrs Vidler and myself. Our school looked
wonderful, demonstra ng reverence and respect for the
service men and women who have, and do work relessly
to allow us to live in freedom. Kelly, Daniel and Hayden;
three of our school leaders laid a wreath and represented
our school proudly. Thank you to all the parents and
community members who make this possible for our
school.

NewEnrolmentsfor2020 It is coming to that me of the year again, where we
begin to prepare for the new intake of Kindergarten
students for 2020. We have a large number of
excep onal circumstance enrolment applica ons on wait
lists. The enrolment panel meets in term 3 to explore
these applica ons. I ask families of current students to
enrol siblings as soon as possible so that we are able to
allocate their posi ons first and calculate if any further
enrolment opportuni es exist. Please see Jenny in the
front office as soon as you are able to begin the
enrolment process.

LibraryNewsWeek1Wow, what a start to the new term. Books have
been slow to be returned, but I am looking forward
to a regular approach to our borrowing sessions and
prompt return of books.
We will con nue to provide a technology rich learn‐
ing experience for our students and are acquiring
new items again this term to help support their learn‐
ing. Students in Stage 2 and Stage 3 will be jumping
into the world of film‐making. The Years 3 and 4 stu‐
dents have been studying how things move and have
just completed some great storyboards on how their
toys move. The Year 5 and 6 students have discov‐
ered that plas c marine debris is killing our oceans
and the life within it. They are inves ga ng plas c
pollu on through researching product life cycles and
will make mini‐movies reflec ng their knowledge.
I am looking forward to our ongoing technology rota‐
ons with the Year 1 and 2 students and have been
impressed with their perseverance in using our re‐
sources. Next week the Kindergarten students will
start accessing computers by learning how to log on
and off.
In the mean me, happy reading and remember our Book
Fair will be held at the end of the month from Monday
27th May to Wednesday 29th May. Our Parade of Charac‐
ters will be on Tuesday 28th May and it is not too early to
start thinking about costumes!
