SAINT OF THE MONTH: St. Joseph of

Cupertino Patron of Aviators,

Flying, and Studying Students

Portrait of the Virtues of Perseverance

and Trust Feast Day:

September 18

Prayer to Saint Joseph of Cupertino O humble St. Joseph of Cupertino, sin-gularly favoured by God in overcom-ing the difficulties of study and the worries of examinations, implore the Holy Spirit to enlighten my mind and strengthen my memory in the search of His truth and wisdom. Help me espe-cially in the decisive moments of this examination, protecting me from that forgetfulness and disturbing anxiety which often affect me. May I succeed in offering God my finest work and may I grow in knowledge, understand-ing, humility, and charity. May every-thing that I attempt to learn in this life be offered in faithful service to God, from whom flows that wisdom which leads to eternal life. Amen.

MERCY CORNER: Visit the Sick (Corporal Work of Mercy)

Visiting the sick is a corporal work of mercy. God calls us to care for those who are sick and injured as they are a member of the body of Christ, His church. We are asked to visit the sick bringing them Hope, Joy, Love, and Peace. This month try to visit someone who is sick or injured. Whether you know them or not bring them a smile and the love of Christ. There are many in our communities who are waiting for a visit.

We are happy to announce that Brigitte Cecelia has volunteered to coordinate the Together We Serve program. Blessings to you Brigitte.

TOGETHER WE SERVE: Catholics making a difference

Did You Know…?

PRAYER FOR SAFE TRAVEL: For all those planning and leaving on their summer vaca-tions, we ask God to protect and guard them

on their journey and bring them back safely by praying:

My holy Angel Guardian,

ask the Lord to bless the journey which I undertake, that it may profit the health of my soul and body; that I may reach its end,

and that, returning safe and sound, I may find my family in good health.

Do thou guard, guide and preserve us.

Amen.

WITH GRATEFUL HEARTS: A heartfelt thanks to all those who were involved in the Parish cleanup, whether actually cleaning or bringing food for those cleaning it is all very much appreciated.

SUNDAY REFLECTION: At the close of today’s Gospel reading from Luke are a telling statement. Af-ter describing Jesus’ journey with His Apostles and others, including some women, one of whom was Mary Mag-dalene, the women are portrayed as “many…who provided for them out of their resources.” This is an indication that Jesus and His Apostles were reli-ant upon others for support and suste-nance. This is Jesus, Who could have easily provided for Himself in many ways because of His Divinity. However, He chose to need others to survive and to accomplish what He needed to accom-plish. Sometimes we may feel inde-pendent, and we may even suffer from the desire to not be dependent upon anyone. Nevertheless, we are.
