This week I have invited two of our students, Ezzah and Jackson C, to report on Harmony Day at New Lambton Heights Infants School.

From Jackson C: On Thursday 21st March the community of New Lambton Heights Infants school celebrated Harmony Day.

We learnt languages from different countries and we dressed up as different cultures. There was happiness everywhere. I loved that there was happiness. Everything was lovely. I loved that everyone was having a wonderful time.

From Ezzah: On Thursday 21st March the community of New Lambton Heights Infants school celebrated Harmony Day.

We sang songs, danced, dressed up, had a picnic and ate delicious dumplings. The songs and dances we did were Colours, Malaysian goat dance and an Israeli circle dance.

I felt really good and happy on Harmony Day because I was respecting many different cultures.

Thank you to our parents – Zara, Barbara, Shahnaz and Mohammad – for their cultural presentations. The children and teachers really enjoyed these.

This week we will be having a visit from Nuatali Nelmes, the Newcastle Lord Mayor. She is going to speak to the children about the street art works in Newcastle, including the Adnate mural. Stage 1 have studied this mural as part of our English unit.

Lisa Hughes (Principal) At New Lambton Heights Infants School we acknowledge that we teach, learn and play together on the traditional country of the Awabakal people, who are the custodians of this land. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

FUTURES LEARNING – Patient and Persistent This week we are learning to solve problems you need to be patient and persistent. When we are patient and persistent we:

• Spend extra time developing our ideas • Don’t give up when things get difficult

Patience and persistence are lifelong skills … I know I am still learning! VALUES FOCUS – Respect in assembly This week we will be talking to each of the classes about our expectations of behaviour assemblies and presentations and how we can show respect in these situations.

Showing respect at assembly can be applied in so many ‘real world’ scenarios such as at the cinema or at a special performance. We encourage you to talk about this with you children. PARKING – Neighbours’ Driveways Please be sure to not park over our neighbours’ driveways.
