• Completed 3 full-island treatments and began a 4th (610 acres)

– Each full-island treatment takes 5-8 weeks

– Poor survival due to environmental factors and interactions with other wildlife

• Current population estimate is 32 individuals

• Wildlife was monitored at work sites, camp, and beach access

Vessel Capsize and Excavator

• September 2 – on last load to ship the LCM capsized 440m offshore in ~3m of water

• DLNR and Kahana crews responded to Mayday call

• After several failed attempts to right the vessel Kahanadeparted for Midway with all USCG personnel.

• September 3 - Kahanasuccessfully recovers vessel, excavator remains in place

• October 15 - Salvage mission cancelled due to poor weather

• 2017 - Tentative salvage planned

• All loose debris was removed from surrounding waters

• No longer appears to be leaking fluids

• Regular monitoring will be continued until removal
