My work is driven by a deeply rooted passion for law and justice. In my mind,it’s imperative that I demonstrate to each client my capacity and willingness tounderstand their core concerns and “human” needs. This process takes time,and may uncover issues that extend beyond the legal matter at hand, but in theend it becomes a vital component of a successful strategy.
Mr. Brown concentrates his practice in white collar criminal defense, international human rights issues,internal investigations and complex commercial litigation. He has defended clients in state and federalcourts and before administrative tribunals. He is a leading figure in the developing area of law relatedto the regulation and enforcement of business requirements for human rights compliance.
Mr. Brown has extensive experience as a trial lawyer and has handled a wide variety of criminal andcivil matters representing individuals, corporations and government entities. He has appeared in anumber of high profile trials, including the nine-month trial involving former U.S. Secretary of LaborRaymond J. Donovan and the successful eight-year defense of senior executives of a majormultinational corporation charged with environmental violations. Mr. Brown has appeared in courts intwelve states and has conducted investigations in the U.S. and in Kenya, El Salvador, the CaymanIslands, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Colombia and Sierra Leone. His international experience includesqualifying as Counsel before the International Criminal Court in The Hague and serving as Co-LeadDefense Counsel at the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Mr. Brown counsels foreign and domestic multinationals on a broad range of corporate riskmanagement, governance, and transactional issues, including those at the intersection of human rightsand business concerns. He advises on compliance obligations, supply chain management issues, andthe potential reputational risks and “bottom line” impacts facing corporations whose operationalpractices become entangled in human rights violations, both domestically and on the internationalstage.

Christine Filip is an expert level business developer and corporate strategist for professional services firms and B2B companies, as well as not for profit organizations. Chris has been a media commentator and speaker for professional and business associations for over 25 years on all facets of business development, public relations, pricing, media relationships, social media and negotiations. Chris was the president of The Success Group in NYC for 21 years. In 2009 she became the Director of Marketing at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP; from 2012 to February 2014 she was the Director of Business Development at Saiber LLC. She re-opened her consulting practice in February 2014. Chris began her career with IBM in sales and left corporate life as the first and only female general manager of Savin Corporation's New York Division, a business entity of 400+ employees. Before corporate life, Chris was a professional tennis teacher and coach. She taught all age groups and as the Women’s Varsity
Coach, she led Gill St. Bernard’s team to an undefeated season. Today, she is an avid weight lifter, rower, tennis player and cross trainer. She has been interviewed in all media venues on competitive strategy, pricing, negotiation skills, leadership and building relationships with the media. In 2000 she was awarded the SBA Service Award by SCORE NYC, for developing and delivering marketing seminars for small business owners in all five boroughs. Chris is the author of over 100 articles on all aspects of business development and the book, Effective Marketing for Lawyers, 2nd ed., 2006, published by the NY State Bar Association. As the Co-Chair of the NJ State Bar’s Law Office Management Committee, she created NJSBA’s Rainmaker College, a three session program for tenured and new lawyers and accountants, and she programs all of the business development programs for the NJSBA ANNUAL MEETING. Carol Johnston Carol Johnston joined the Administrative Office of the Courts in 2006 and serves as the Secretary to the Advisory Committee on Professional Ethics, the Committee on Attorney Advertising, and the Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law. She also answers the attorney ethics hotline. Carol clerked for Chief Justice Robert N. Wilentz then served as a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Division of Law, for 15 years. She was Ethics Officer for the Department of Law and Public Safety and a member of the Prosecutors Code of Ethics Committee. She is a graduate of Hamilton College and New York Law School.
