Some of the commonly held beliefs are that the eventual sale of the practice and accumulating RRSP’s will take care of your retirement needs. These two components make up only a portion of the amount needed to retire, as other strategies also need to be considered. Identify your target retirement number and learn how well structured strategies placed in time will help you achieve a successful retirement, and protect your family should the unexpected happen.

Challenges and complications can be encountered at all phases of implant therapy. The immediate post-operative period is particularly rich in the probability of untoward clinical events. Sequelae and complications encountered here are similar to post-operative surgical experiences encoun-tered in other fields of dentistry. However, the placement of an implant can also lead to specific challenges and complications that are directly associated with the surgical intervention of implant

In the past few years we have witnessed a continuous line of innovations in implant dentistry. The adoption of many are very desirable to the practitioners because they reduce healing time, allow early or immediate loading, create favourable implant recipient sites, allow more precise placement of implants and result in superior cosmetic outcomes. While these advancements are positive and lead us into the brighter future they tend to push the basic tenants of implant treatment in the background. Today’s seminar is aimed to remind participants abut the importance of basics and how to incorporate them into the emerging new protocols.

Fixed or removable? Zirconia or denture teeth? How many implants? All on 4 or 6? Bar or individual locators? What pitfalls should I watch for? Immediate or delayed loading?

Forty years ago, Dr. Branemark introduced to us “osseointegration”, a way to restore the edentu-lous mandible with a fixed restoration using six implants. Since then numerous developments occurred, many changes have been made and several protocols are now available when restoring both mandible and maxilla with dental implants. However all these choices, from the simple two-implant overdenture to the most sophisticated full arch implant ceramic restorations, present a challenge to today’s clinician not only from the clinical but also from the treatment planning perspective.

This course will summarize the factors that influence the decision on what type of prosthesis should be planned for each specific patient. Several clinical examples both fixed and removable will be presented, and outcomes will be discussed. Finally suggestions will be made on how each individual clinician can create protocols specific to their practice and patients in order to be able to successfully treat the edentulous patient with dental implants.

Tuesday, September 20th, 2016 The Digital Denture Revolution has begun!!! • Hands on ComponentSpeaker: Dr. Izchak Barzilay$99.00 plus HST Evening 6:00pm – 9:00pmIncluded in PACE Membership Please RSVP no later than 2 days prior

This seminar will introduce the audience to a revolution in removable prosthodontics. Digital dentures have been perfected to the point where they are predictable and considered state of the art. AvaDent is an entirely new concept in the fabrication of complete dentures, implant overden-tures, immediate dentures and fixed implant reconstructions over implants. Dentures can be made in as little as two appointments with a resulting prosthesis that surpasses the quality of anything made in the conventional manner. The methods are predictable and easy to apply. Learning this method will bring a new appreciation to the fabrication and provision of complete denture prosthodontics. This presentation will present the different methods that can be used to collect data from a patient and then scanned to create a new prosthesis via milling in a CAD/CAM method. Attendees will be able to use this technology immediately after this program once they return to their practices.A hands-on component will also be available for those who are interested in trying out some of the methods presented.

Course Objectives: 1) Understand and be able to apply concepts of digital dentures

With an aging population, loss of cervical tooth structure is now a routine finding during clinical examinations. This loss of tooth structure is often multi-factorial, and all potential etiologies of the wear must be considered before tackling the restorative process. The treatment of these lesions is compounded when the cervical lesion is accompanied by gingival recession. This lecture presents an interdisciplinary approach to treatment of cervical tooth defects where treatment is based on the severity of the tooth surface defect, the extent of root exposure present, and the classification of the gingival recession.

Course Objectives:

1) Understand the etiologic factors behind carious and non-carious cervical lesions2) Review when non-carious cervical lesions should be treated3) Discuss the restorative and surgical treatment options available4) Develop a decision-making process to aid in treatment planning for non-carious cervical lesions

Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 Porcelain Veneers from A to Z• Hands on ProgramSpeaker: Dr. Effrat Habsha• Non-PACE Member Tuition: $699.00 plus HST • PACE Member Tuition: $349.00 plus HST Full Day 2:30pm – 9:00pm – Space is limited

Porcelain veneers offer our patients immediate enhancement of their smile. Improvements to the colour, shape and alignment of teeth can be readily achieved with porcelain veneers. In order to achieve ideal results, the clinician must appropriately select cases and implement specific clinical protocols. Failure to properly treatment plan and execute tooth preparation, impression, temporiza-tion and cementation can result in catastrophic outcomes.

The focus of this hands-on program is to provide the general practitioner with key insights in achieving predictable esthetic outcomes with porcelain veneers. In the first part of the session, we will review prosthodontic treatment planning as well as indications and contraindications for porcelain veneers. A step by step approach to tooth preparation, impression, temporization and cementation will follow. Clinical examples of porcelain veneers will be presented. The hands-on component will recap the didactic session, giving course participants the opportunity to prepare, impress and temporize the maxillary anteriors on a typodont.

Course Objectives:

1) To review the indications and contraindications for porcelain veneers

2) To review appropriate treatment planning for porcelain veneers

3) To review the clinical protocol for veneer fabrication including tooth preparation, temporization, impression and veneer cementation4) Hands-on opportunity to fabricate a silicone matrix, prepare, impress and temporize a maxillary typodont for porcelain veneers

Wednesday, October 26th, 2016 Treating the Severely Atrophic Maxilla: A Graft Less Approach Utilizing the Zygomatic ImplantSpeaker: Dr. Jack Zosky $99.00 plus HST Evening 6:00pm – 9:00pm Included in PACE Membership Please RSVP no later than 2 days prior Historically, treating the severely atrophic maxilla consisted of the surgeon attempting to restore the lost bone and soft tissue anatomy with significant grafting techniques prior to dental implant placements. This greatly increased the surgical morbidity and caused significant protracted treatment time plus inconvenient and distasteful use of a provisional prosthesis during healing. The utilization of osseous anchorage in the facial skeleton beyond the alveolus was first prescribed by P.I. Branemark for patients who had undergone ablative surgery for oral cancers and the Zygoma as a source for implant support of a prosthesis was an obvious choice.

PACE Membership available or courses can be purchased on a course by course basis. All courses held at PACE at 2300 Yonge Street, Suite 901, Toronto, ON * www.paceeducation.ca

The protocol for Zygomatic implant placement and immediate load prosthetic rehabilitation has been greatly refined in recent years. This represents a more simplified approach to treating these challenging patients involving less trauma, less time and ultimately lost cost both financially and psychologically.

Course Objectives:

1) Understanding the treatment planning relative to patient selection2) Understand the indications and limitations of the Zygomatic implant3) Gain knowledge of the surgical technique and prosthetic procedures to provide an immediate load fixed solution

The objective of this program is to introduce methods to dentists and/or office managers in hiring long-term employees, avoid high-turnover and maintain exceptional employees. Many times well-meaning dentists and office managers believe they are hiring the right people but within a few weeks they realize that it is simply not the case and have to start from scratch. This can be truly stressful for the practise. Long term and satisfied employees are a dream for any dentist but we hear time and time again that it is not so easy to retain good and competent employees.

PACE Membership available or courses can be purchased on a course by course basis. All courses held at PACE at 2300 Yonge Street, Suite 901, Toronto, ON * www.paceeducation.ca

The ideal scenario for most dentists would be to have employees that they can count on so they can focus on their patients. Your team should take care of the rest… right? Unfortunately, many practices fail to fulfill their full potential due to hiring the wrong person. I will help you see how simple this process can actually become by changing the way you hire and inspire the new person on board. This seminar will provide you with tried and true strategies that have been implemented in our very own practice. For the past three decades Prosthodontic Associates has hired and worked with many employees which have been an integral part of the success in the running of the practice. You will be given tips that you can immediately use in your dental practice by simply reorganizing the way you hire, which will eventually become exceptional employees.

You will leave understanding methods that can ensure your hiring success by:

1) Reviewing the relevance and importance of human resources for the profitability of the practice2) Describing a no cost method in placing an ad, screening resumes quickly and ultimately hiring the right person3) Techniques to avoid attrition or dissatisfaction in your practice and having a well-rounded team

Monday, November 7th & 14th, 2016 • 2 Evening ProgramPrinciples of Treatment Planning in Dentistry: A Multidisciplinary ApproachSpeaker: Dr. M.K. (Bobby) Baig$199.00 plus HST Evening 6:00pm – 9:00pm Included in PACE Membership Space Limited, RSVP Mandatory

Interdisciplinary treatment planning in dentistry should be given priority as early as possible because of the prime importance of diagnosis. This presentation will greatly elaborate on this topic and devotes considerable attention in the diagnostic phase. It is critical to note that computation and processing of the data into each treatment sequence is multidisciplinary in nature and involves several specialties either directly or indirectly. In this fashion the clinician becomes acutely aware of the fine correlations between tooth anatomy, size, position, gingival levels, occlusal status, implant placement, periodontal conditions and the overall facial appearance in relationship to the “dento-alveolo-gingival complex”, this helps to create a foundation when a diverse fixed or removable prosthodontic rehabilitation is needed.

Part One (November 7th, 2016) • Lecture:

1) The discipline of establishing a sound rationale for each and every step one plans to take in treatment plan with critical analysis of diagnostics to establish an ideal treatment planning using case based scenarios

Page 22: New in 2016! · Contemporary Crown Lengthening Therapy for Function and Aesthetics Speaker: Dr. Ryan Schure $99.00 plus HST ... Please RSVP no later than 2 days prior Crown lengthening

2) The understanding that every case should be approached as if the clinician has never treatment planned or treated a case3) To review the guidelines of treatment planning to differentiate normal anatomical architecture as compared to deviation from normal4) To make a judgment upon clinician’s experience when to involve other specialists to provide the best possible treatment for our patients5) Advancements and usage of newer technologies for diagnosis and treatment planning

PACE Membership available or courses can be purchased on a course by course basis. All courses held at PACE at 2300 Yonge Street, Suite 901, Toronto, ON * www.paceeducation.ca

Part Two (November 14th, 2016) • Lecture and Workshop:

Multiple Simple to complex cases will be discussed based upon the diagnostic tools provided to every participant

A). Odontogram, B) FMX, C) Panorex, D) CT Scans, D) Mounted Diagnostic Casts, E) Photographs.

Cases will be critically evaluated to fabricate different treatment options in each situation in some cases the final treatment outcome will be shown in a presentation format.
