Apply Early! Many Colleges have application deadlines of mid October and November 1st for early
notification. Some schools require you to complete the application by the early deadline to be eligible for

The Ron Brown Scholar Program Eligibility: African-American high school seniors who will make significant
contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in
community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a

Voice of Democracy National Audio Essay (VFW) Discipline: General Award: The first-place winner, who
competes with all the first-place VFW Department winners, receives a $30,000 scholarship that is paid directly to
the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school and an all-expenses-paid trip to
Washington, DC. Also, national scholarships ranging from $1,000-$16,000. Requirements: Must write and record
an essay of between 3-5 minutes. Essay themes are listed on the web site. Open to all students in grades 9-

Gardner-Webb Fellows Scholarships Discipline: General; must attend Gardner-Webb University Award:

Johns Hopkins University Hodson Scholarship Discipline: General; must attend Johns Hopkins Award: Worth

Academic excellence, personal achievement and demonstrated leadership regardless of financial need. All freshmen

Presbyterian Church USA Servant Leadership Scholarship Discipline: Outstanding Community service and/or
church service and leadership Requirements: Student must have demonstrated outstanding community and/or

Presbyterian College - Quattlebaum Honor Scholarship Discipline: General; Academic scholarship Award:
Full yearly tuition renewable each year with specific GPA requirements Requirements : 3.75 GPA, 1350 SAT or 31

UNC-Asheville University Laurels Scholarship Discipline: General Award: UNC Asheville offers a variety of
scholarships, ranging from approximately $1,000 per year to full tuition and fees, to entering freshman who

University of Georgia Foundation Fellowship Discipline: General Award: Requirements: Applicants must be
current high school seniors with an unweighted high school GPA of at least 3.75 and a minimum combined SAT

achievement, successful applicants demonstrate a high degree of intellectual drive and curiosity and possess superior

University of South Carolina - McNair Scholars Award Discipline: General/Academic Requirements: Typical
candidates have excellent grades on a strong high-school curriculum and present average SAT scores over 1350 on
critical reading and math sections combined (or ACT composite score of 30. Must apply early and follow the
application instructions provided by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students who wish to be considered
for the McNair Scholars award must complete the appropriate resident or non-SC resident University Honors

University of South Carolina-Columbia Alumni Scholars Discipline: General Award: Annual Value: $5,000
Four-Year Value: $20,000 Approximately 15 freshmen receive awards of $5,000 from the Carolina Alumni
Association., does not have to be a dependent of a USC alumnus to be considered. Requirements: SAT scores above
1350 on critical reading and math sections combined (or ACT composite score of 30) and achieve a GPA above
3.80; Must also be accepted for enrollment at USC’s Columbia campus. Based on academic achievement,
leadership, talent, and service. Must apply for general University admissions and a University Honors College and
