The payoff: less time, increasedreturnsA Purdue University study examinedthe effect of auto-guidance on a typicalcorn and soybean producer who farms1800 acres. Adding lightbar guidancepermitted the operation to expand to2,600 acres using the same equipment,and netted the farmer an extra $6.93per acre. Using a DGPS auto-guidancesystem with 4-inch accuracy allowedthe operator to expand to 3,100 acresusing the same equipment with anincrease in return of $7.36 per acre—thelargest increase in returns for expandingfarms. If the farmer invested in the RTK

guidance system for extreme accuracyand the most controlled traffic, theoperation could expand to the same3,100 acres and would experience anincrease in returns of $3.41 an acre.

Immediate operator overrideThe electronic steering valve andmanifold are plumbed into the tractorsteering system and receive steeringdirection from the IntelliSteer system’snavigation controller mounted insidethe cab. Exhaust gases arerecycled through a second power tur-bine downstream from the turbo-charg-er to generate extra driving torque andincreasing engine power up to eightpercent without increasing fuel con-sumption. This results in a three percentgain in fuel efficiency for the T9050compared to the prior TJ model withthe larger engine.

24 valves per cylinderThe 24 valve cylinder head features

four valves per cylinder for increasedpower and faster response across theentire power band. The four-valve-per-cylinder configuration increases the sizeof the intake and exhaust port area forbetter engine breathing—which meansimproved operating performance andefficiency. The turbocharger on allmodels delivers the proper air-to-fuelmixture regardless of engine rpm,resulting in even greater efficiency andquicker response to the work at hand.

Electronic fuel control provides the T9000 engine withthe exact amount of fuel at precisely the right time foroptimum fuel efficiency.

Larger tire options increase traction efficiency whilereducing compaction, for improved yields and produc-tivity. Since frame size is matched to horsepower foroptimum performance, additional weight doesn’t haveto be added to T9000 tractors for many applications. Inapplications requiring extra ballast, a front cast weightbracket can be added to the frame for additional ballastwith up to 18 suitcase weights. Suitcase weights and acast bracket can be added to the rear of T9000s withouta three-point hitch. Wheel weights are also available forthe front and rear axles.
