OCTOBER 2011 NEW HIRES NORTHERN REGION THE SWINERTON NORTHERN REGION IS GROWING! LIEF KAIPER - SAN FRANCISCO Business Development Manager Lief joined Swinerton Builders in April of this year. He will lead business development efforts for the growing Bay Area healthcare sector, specifically integrating Swinerton’s affiliate company, HMH, a brand well known in the Sacramento Valley, to expand its reach to the greater Bay Area counties. Lief brings over 17 years of business development and marketing experience and holds a B.A. in International Relations from University of San Diego. TONYA BOJORQUEZ - SAN FRANCISCO Project Engineer Tonya joined Swinerton on May 23, 2011. She is currently working on the San Joaquin Community Hospital MOB. Tonya recently graduated from Fresno State. This is her first experience working for a construction company, having worked at an architectural firm the last eight years assisting in project management. In her spare time, Tonya enjoys spending time with her family. “If we are not at an amusement park, we are outdoors camping, hiking or fishing.” MAGGIE MITCHEM-FLANIGAN - SAN FRANCISCO Assistant Project Manager Maggie joined Swinerton on July 11, 2011. Prior to working at Swinerton, Maggie spent a few years in Boston at a pharmaceutical plant before moving out West. Since moving to the Bay Area, she has worked on the Digital Arts Letterman and Millenium Tower projects in San Francisco. With the exception of a small stint in estimating, most of her work experience has been in the field. Maggie is a proud Colorado Buffalo and loves the Denver Broncos. She also enjoys running and playing soccer. TERI BEAMAN - SAN FRANCISCO Junior Accountant Teri joined Swinterton Builders on May 16, 2011. For nearly twenty years, she has worked in the construction field. She brings a broad base of experience having worked as the primary bookkeeper for a residential home builder, a roofing company, an underground construction firm and a real estate company. This is her first experience with such a large organization and she is looking forward to learning many new things. In her spare time Teri loves to travel.

LauraKatherine Logan - San franciScoSenior administrative assistantLauraKatherine joined Swinerton Builders on May 31, 2011. Before moving to San Francisco, she lived in San Diego where she started an organization called The Collaboratory where they organized large scale art shows featuring local visual artists, musicians and everyone in between. Originally from Mississippi, LauraKatherine loves cooking with lots of butter and bacon. “I feel that the world would be a better place if people ingested more butter, bacon and coffee (preferably on a daily basis)”. She’s desperately in love with her cat, “Phitty-Kitty”.

gLenn cLaycoMB - San franciScoSenior project ManagerGlenn joined Swinerton Builders on July 1, 2011. “I started digging ditches forty years ago and decided I’d rather be on top, than down in the dirt, so I became a mechanical engineer.” Most of his projects were in the Bay Area and California, with a few around the country and overseas. He switched to project management with the University of California in 1986. Overall Glenn has 20 years in engineering and 15 in project management. Glenn enjoys skiing and camping in his free time.

patricK gaaSch - San franciScoproject ManagerPatrick joined Swinerton Builders on June 17, 2011. Patrick has worked in the construction industry for twenty years, first as as an architect, then as a CM and later as a general contractor. As a project manager and senior project manager he has worked in the high tech, biotech, commercial, hospitality, preforming arts, residential, and educational fields. Prior to coming to Swinerton, he was a founding partner of an ‘Expert Witness’ startup company. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, coaching, home improvements and growing giant pumpkins with his two daughters. To date, his largest pumpkin was 467 pounds.

Kenton triMBLe - San franciScoproject engineerKent joined Swinerton Builders on July 5, 2011. He recently graduated in May this year from Chico State. Prior to Swinerton, Kent interned with two other general contractors over the past two summers. He is currently working in Oakland on the Kensington Fire Station exterior improvements and site accessibility. In his spare time, Kent enjoys spending time with family and friends out on lakes boating, fishing, and wakeboarding. During the winter he visits Tahoe a lot to snowboard. “Go Giants, Go Raiders, Go Sharks!”

gregory garriSon- SiLicon vaLLeyproject engineer internGregory joined as an intern for Swinerton Builders on May 31st, 2011 and is currently working on the Santa Clara High School project. As a student at San Jose State University’s Civil Engineering program, he is also a board member to both AGC and ITE student chapters where he has done job site tours like Washington Hospital for Swinerton Builders and the Warm Springs BART Extension project by Shimmick and Skanska. In his spare time, Gregory enjoys woodworking and playing soccer.

john pLuff - SiLicon vaLLeyproject executiveJohn joined Swinerton Builders this year. He has actively participated in the development and execution of projects in the construction and real estate industry for over 30 years. While holding key management and project positions, he has provided oversight on numerous projects for state-of-the-art microelectronic facilities in California’s Silicon Valley as well as in the southwest and northwestern United States.

Duncan wheat - SacraMentoassistant Divisional controllerDuncan joined HMH accounting department on August 29th, 2011. A graduate of California State University East Bay in Business Administration, Duncan has been involved in the construction industry for over 25 years. Duncan enjoys backbacking, having recently completed an 8 day, 72-mile hike in the Sierra Mountains. In his spare time he enjoys reading military, non-fiction and science fiction. Duncan and his wife have two Pomeranians and a calico cat.

jeffrey StephenSon - SiLicon vaLLeyproject engineerJeff joined Swinerton on July 5, 2011. He’s currently working on the Wilcox High School project in Santa Clara. As a graduate of Sacramento State University, he earned his degree in Construction Management. Prior to working at Swinerton he worked as a laborer/apprentice for a small residential contractor and then interned for several construction companies. He’s a big football fan, and recently coached a Sacramento high school’s football and JV baseball team.

jarett SigLer - San franciScoassistant SuperintendentJarrett joined Swinerton Interiors on May 16, 2011. He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2003. His prior positions span from project management to COO/RMO for a residential/light commercial contractor and he currently holds an active California concrete license, C-8. He spends as much time as possible with his wife and his 15 month old daughter. When he’s not out exploring with his family, he enjoys hiking, golf, and BBQs with friends.

jonathan cLeary - San franciScoproject engineerJonathan joined Swinerton Builders on June 20, 2011. He recently graduated from Sacramento State University. Prior to working at Swinerton, Jonathan worked in the construction industry as an intern doing project engineer and estimating work at W.L. Butler Construction, McCarthy Building Companies, TMCS and most recently at Tricorp Hearn Construction. A native San Franciscan, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music, playing golf and visiting Lake Tahoe. His favorite sport is football and his team is the San Francisco 49ers.

ron KowaLSKi - San franciScoproject executiveRon joined Swinerton on May 9, 2011. He brings thirty-five years of project management experience in the areas of commercial development, design assist, design/build, construction, and general contracting. In his spare time, Ron enjoys snow skiing, motorcycles, fishing, hunting, golf and the outdoors. He and his wife Shelly of 29 years have four children and four grandchildren. Ron has also trained in the martial arts for 15 years and earned a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwando and four other styles.

ryan thoMaS - SeattLeproject engineerRyan began working with Swinerton Builders at our Northwest office this year. He has nine years experience in the construction industry including working in various trades such as plumbing, mechanical and concrete. Working in the Bellevue area of Washington, Ryan takes advantage of the nature surrounding him and in his spare time enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and riding dirt bikes.

DaviD SLocoMBe - SeattLeSenior SuperintendentDavid rejoined Swinerton Builders in July 2011 having previously been on staff from 2002-2009. His current projects include the T-Mobile critical facility projects and all critical facility work the Bellevue office is pursuing. For over 35 years, David has worked in the industry. He brings extensive knowledge of critical facilities having done large projects in Oregon, Arizona, California and Washington. In his spare time, David enjoys sword fighting, martial arts and woodworking.

Lee BurDicK - SeattLeestimatorLee joined Swinerton Builders June 18th, 2011 as an estimator for the Northwest Interiors group. Lee has worked in construction for over 25 years starting as a residential framing apprentice and progressed through the field up to a superintendent then to commercial construction where he started out as a project engineer to a commercial construction manager. Lee enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include road biking, cyclocross racing, snowboarding, golf and drumcorps.

MarK aurDahL - SeattLeassistant SuperintendentMark rejoined Swinerton Builders on July 1, 2011, having previously been in the Craft department in 2009. Mark is currently closing out at Fred Meyer Kirkland and has been active in all the Bright Horizon projects. Mark has been in the construction industry for over twenty years, trained as carpenter specializing in doors and hardware. Much of his experience in construction includes casino and tenant improvement projects. Mark is an avid hunter and enjoys spending time with his son.

greg evanS - SeattLeproject executiveGreg began working with Swinerton Builders this year. As a Project Executive, Greg will be cultivating new business relationships and positioning the division for serving the next wave of gaming, hospitality, and infrastructure work for local tribes. Greg is committed to bettering the communities in which he lives and works, coaching junior football and basketball, and working with community organizations like Rebuilding Together Seattle. Evans holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Central Washington University and will be based out of the Swinerton’s Bellevue office.

toM hatfieLD - SeattLeSenior SuperintendentTom joined Swinerton Builders in February 2011. For over 35 years Tom has worked in the construction industry, starting as remodeling contractor then later owning his own business and then to foreman and then experience as a superintendent. Tom’s construction experience includes many retail and office buildings. His most recent experience as a superintendent, includes working on Native American gaming casino projects in the Northwest. In his spare time Tom enjoys golf, snow skiing, wine and the Pacific Northwest.
